Thanks you guys. I've not been a member of the Exploders Club since I was in my twenties, when the slightest thing could make me [[Explode]]. I could use a renewal card. Those were the days, when I could stand at 6'5" and people respected me. Now, once we went to an MDA support group meeting at the U of Minnesota, and they had food, including these oversize cookies with M&M's on them. So my wife and I are leaving the meeting, on the elevator, and I am sitting on my scooter holding one of those cookies, and this DOCTOR got on the elevator, and she says, "Thats' a Nice Cookie" like I was retarded. I said "Thank you" and looked at my wife, and I thought I was going to explode with Laughter! We got off the elevator on our floor and as soon as the door closed, I started busting up, laughing. I could hardly say this through my laughter, "she thought I was retarded". Now, I know that's a diferent thing altogether, and I shouldnt laugh, but I get like Krusty the Clown hair if I dont cut it, and I could understand why she thought that, not having heard me speak or anything. I dont think that retarded be are to be laughed at, I just thought it was funny that because of my appearance she thought I was. Anyways, Its good to post again. I havent posted for more than a year I believe. Is BirdMom still around? How are you doing Zazu?

Ive got to change this dumb tagline, the novelty of being here has worn off!

Im in California, Im in California! If you see me at Knott's, come up and say "Hi"!

^ Okay, the novelty has worn off.

I know how you feel Wheelieman. I get treated differently because I am short fat, and weird looking as a wee bit tupped.

Maybe he wanted your cookie. it is still considered assault and batter if you use a powerchair to run down idiots.

Be warned that fat ladies with bad knees and weak ankles can fall on annoying people. I once fell asleep while driving an ECV. oops, sorry about that dent in your shin.

I'm still here, and still work for a giant rodent. I've moved from being a RR Conductor to being a Concierge at the Big Toaster though.

Good to have you back!

I went to see this show about a month ago and she was fantastic! I am so glad that the stereotype of only hiring "perfect-looking" CMs has gone the way of the..well. you know what I mean.

I am offended by the fact that simple minded folks are only focusing on her mode of transportation and not her ability to sing or act.

Why is it that a person that has a disability always has to have idiots (example:passholes) judge them?

I was really saddened by that thread. I think plenty of positive stuff has been said to compensate for that, but I can't believe how dumb it is to even bother arguing over such a topic to begin with. Job requirements: background singing and performing capabilities. They're not looking for ballerinas. She fits the requirements, end of story. I can't believe the ones that say, hey, there's this deserving and talented woman who does her job extremely well but maybe they should consider firing her because there's a distracting half foot of wheelchair sticking out from under a fabric cover. (As if the magic carpet actress, parrot puppet, giant plush elephant [yes...], and creepy genie clones aren't distracting at all.)

Um... whose baby is this? :stork:

I saw her perform before I left DLR, and I thought she was pretty good. When I first saw her I had to do a double take to make sure that I saw correctly that she was in a scooter. It's always good to see someone making the most of their disability, and that Disney gave her the chance.

In my view, she's the polar opposite to the whiny, take advantage of a non-existent disability SGs that I dealt with daily when I worked at the Stroller Shop.

MiceChat and most other Disney forums are laughable. With topics like, "WHICH TUNNEL DO YOU GO INTO WHEN YOU FIRST ENTER DISNEYLAND, LEFT OR RIGHT?" and the threads about haunted attractions, you can't really expect any kind of intelligent discussion out of them.

It amazed me how many people care about this actress in a wheelchair. Who cares? She proved she could sing and got the job. It's a stupid show at DCA for crying out loud, not Shakespeare.

And if that woman could do Shakepeare, I'd be all for it.

Been there and done that.

Posting is stroking and destroying the poster's ego. I get happy points for a post people like or agree with and bonus points if it makes front page news or is stickied. It feels good to have people say that you are right even if you are wrong.

We see it here sometimes but most post whores here got shot down in a flaming missile that impacts into a million pieces. I have learned to stay out of where I do not belong, lol. This site is very good at training people how to properly post and tolerates ADD posts thankfully.
