Dr. Joyce Brothers -- once considered the most famous psychologist on the planet -- has died in NYC at the age of 85.
Very competitive sailor. She won a lot of regattas in her day. She sold her race boat a few years ago. The new owner posted on Sailing Anarchy asking if anyone had drawings of the interior as he wanted to reinstall all the cabinets. Turned out the good doc had stripped the interior of the boat to lighten it. She eventually gave back a lot of trophies.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

I am a total screw up. Dr. Brothers was neither a sailor or a sailing cheater. The sailor/cheater is Dr. Laura Schlessinger. Please ignore the above paragraph. You may call me any and all appropriate names as needed.hobie16 wrote:Very competitive sailor. She won a lot of regattas in her day. She sold her race boat a few years ago. "Brothers gained fame in late 1955 by winning The $64,000 Question game show, on which she appeared as an expert in the subject area of boxing." That's what you meant right??

Re: Dr. Joyce Brothers Will Not Be Down For Breakfast
Nope. Dr. Laura competed in regattas all over Southern California and won a lot of metal. She eventually got caught when the new owner of her previous boat asked for help to reinstall all the cabinets she had stripped out to lighten the boat to make it faster. She eventually gave back a lot of trophies and was barred from competitive sailing.TdcOgre wrote:Here let me help:

I do always think of Dr. Joyce as being a perennial figure on the game show circuit.

Does anyone else besides me:
1.) Remember reading her column--in Ladies Home Journal, I think?
2.) Remember when she had a cameo appearence on ALF?

You misunderstood me. You posted Brothers had died but had info on Schlessinger. I thought you'd just Googled the wrong DR. :) :) I added the tidbit about Brothers and Boxing to fill in the gap. :)hobie16 wrote:Nope.
