Wow, I'm surprised. You'd think that with Downtown Disney open CM's could just tell people to head there. As much as I hate to admit it Disney merchandise is getting to the point where it's pretty consistent everywhere you go in the resort.hobie16 wrote:I believe the one hour deal is true. At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

As critical as I am of Disney Merchandising, I think Downtown Disney's Disney Store does not carry "Theme Park Only" merchandise. While the stores inside the parks have gotten entirely too homogeneous, there is still a difference with Disney Stores.KieranDotW wrote:Wow, I'm surprised. Just a small point: The "World of Disney" store at Downtown Disney, WDW, is part of Park Operations, it's not part of the "Disney Store". This may seem a small point from the outside, but it makes a big difference about what products are on offer.WEDFan wrote:As critical as I am of Disney Merchandising, I think Downtown Disney's Disney Store does not carry "Theme Park Only" merchandise. I did not know that. Has it always been that way? I seem to recall from the old Magic Kingdom Club days that the discount that didn't apply in gift shops did apply there as it did for the Disney Stores. That's why I had it in my mind that it was affiliated with the Disney Stores.Zazu wrote:Just a small point: The "World of Disney" store at Downtown Disney, WDW, is part of Park Operations, it's not part of the "Disney Store". Of course, the Magic Kingdom Club is long gone, and I haven't been in an official Disney Store (especially since the World of Disney isn't one) for years.

Knott's Berry Farm, aka Nazi Fairy Farm, has/had a 45 minute or 1 hour shopping pass too, but again you had to be back or lose your deposit of a one day admission. Plus there was shopping without actually entering the park--probably a better deal than in the park.
Re: Some Stupid Fun
I guess that makes sense because my annual pass discount works at World of Disney, but not at the 2 Disney Stores by my house in Utah.
