Sherrif John will not be down for lunch

John Rovic, long a beloved childrens show host in L.A. and known to most fans as "Sherrif John" passed on October 6. Write-up here.

I met him once when I was the target age for his show; he and my father had the same orthopedic surgeon. I was quietly sitting in the waiting room, fully aware that a Major Star was there, but not wanting to bother him. Instead he bothered me, introducing himself and chatting until he was called in. Nice guy who seemed to be genuinely interested in kids, and listening to them. I recall that I praised his show but suggested greater variety in cartoons might be nice, at which he laughed and disclaimed responsibility for.

Nice guys finish last --- John was 93.
