INTERESTING. It's too bad that some of the (former?) CM's are in the pictures. hope no one gets into trouble over them!

wierd. I always thought it was a rumor that disney used little people for the real short charactors.
it's neat to see how some of the costumes were back then too.

Anyone ever check out whether the skull on the headboard of the pirate bed is real or not, according to the caption?

I am loving all the classic Tomorrowland pictures. :) (Saves all of them onto her computer.)

I've heard it's the only real skull left on the ride. Originally the ride was full of real skulls because fake skulls back then did not look realistic enough for Walt. Eventually all the real skulls were replaced with fakes as the technology got better. Real skulls age in a way that fake skulls can't replicate, so judging by the way it looks, the headboard skull certainly looks like a genuine article. Guess we'll have to wait and see if a POTC CM shows up to confirm or debunk it.

strictly speaking, I think using human remains for an amusement park ride MIGHT be frowned upon by the powers that be.

but it would explain what happens when you are an SG!!

Well yeah, Walt did get a lot of flack for using real skulls back then. He got the skulls, I think on loan, from a university (don't recall which one). But he really wanted things to look convincing and the fake skulls back in the day simply didn't do it for him.

And if you think using human remains is frowned upon, what about the stupid Guests who dump their loved ones' ashes into the waters of POTC or one of rooms in the Haunted Mansion?

If I remember right, it is actually against the law (in california) on private property without permission, in writing.
