The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall

If you are a fan of Phantom of the Opera, musicals, or the like you need to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Royal Albert Hall. It was filmed at the 25th anniversary of Phantom performing in London (where it first opened). It has an all-star cast and a lavish setting. Andrew Lloyd Webber and the original London cast attended and came up on stage at the end. Sarah Brightman (the original Christine Daaé and for whom the role was written for) and four of the previous Phantoms performed an encore of the titular song.

I saw Phantom on Broadway years ago and saw the 2004 film adaptation but this is, IMO, the best performance of the musical (or any musical for that matter) I have ever seen. It was broadcast live to cinemas around the world last year (how I missed hearing about it until now is beyond me) and was sold out at Royal Albert Hall.

Go out and get a copy and watch it, you won't regret it. I rented it from Redbox and am going to have to get a copy of my own.

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

Thanks. I just added it to my Netflix queue. :D: It will help keep me entertained until season 2 of Game of Thrones is released.

I think it's been on the Ovation cable channel a couple of times. That's where I saw it. Ovation airs a lot Broadway musicals and theater. I saw a "Making Of" the original Phantom production on Ovation and it was simply fascinating. That's worth checking out too.

I did a double take when I saw the thread title. I just listened to the soundtrack on my iPod yesterday. I haven't seen the Royal Albert Hall performance, but I loved the Broadway production. There is just something about seeing the plays in theaters where they will run for a while and they can take full advantage of all a major stage has to offer.
