Incredible Customer Service-when we are CLOSED!

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Incredible Customer Service-when we are CLOSED!

Post by DisneyMom » Wed Jun 06, 2012 11:56 pm

My Boss has decided to allow our patients in to be treated after we have closed as long as there is a qualified MD. This includes people who boldly walk in as others are leaving after hours and those who plead at the locked door (for non-emergency care)even though we have a 24 hour facility 20 minutes down the road....no limits on time this may keep those of us who work 12 plus hours over....keeping ancillary staff after hours.....Kicker might be staying til 11pm with a patient who showed up 1/2 hour post closing, only to have another patient arrive as we are trying to leave at 1105 pm.Word will get out that we take people after hours.....Not sure how breaks can be handled....after 12 hours I DESPERATELY need a break,as it has usually been 6 or more hours since I've had one  Safety is another issue- After word gets out that we let people in after we are closed, I think someone unsavory will see it as an opportunity :(

One question. Does your boss stay too,or just think you folks can be awake 'all' day with no sleep?

 Wow... that's just wrong. As an employee I'd be pissed, and if I were an owner, I wouldn't want that happening, either. Seems to me like a liability. Holding staff that need to be able to use observation skills and judgement beyond a reasonable shift seems like a recipe for disaster when alternative care options exist.

Just plain bad.

BTW, is the staff paid overtime?

Yikes. When you are possibly dealing with peoples lives, I can't imagine that it's good for you to be tired.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

It looks like the fast way to stop this is to hide the qualified MDs. ;)

I'm not as worried about my skills as my temper. Tired just pisses me off. Ask Hubby.
We DO get OT, but no amount of Overtime is enough after 12 hours. I do not seek it.

I'm hoping MDs will limit this-they are not happy about it either. They are fatigued at the end of the night also.

I bet the union would have something to say about this, as well as the dept of labor, as you would be exceeding allowable hours without a break in many jurisdictions.
