This is a pretty normal occurence. What is really funny, a friend was on their show in the UK, Fool Us. He won with a trick that he sells on his website, and that I have seen him perform live.shilohmm wrote:Apparently someone has not just copied it, but they're offering to sell the secret.![]()

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

Yah, that was one of the things I noticed right off and appreciated. I find the two U.S. political parties about equally annoying.WEDFan wrote:The are equal opportunity mockers,

Yah, I know secret stealing between magicians goes back probably to the ancient Egyptians or farther. For some reason it doesn't bother me when someone figures out and copies a magic trick (although I think they should give credit if it's a biggie), but it ticks me off when they figure it out and then try to sell that secret. It's feels to me like forging a great work of art to make money off that other artist's fame or something. :p:

Re: Twisted Sister and the Mariachi Miracles
The second oldest profession is magic. The first is sales. The thing that most people think is the first profession is actually a division of sales.
As far as the whole thing of stolen/reverse engineered tricks and stuff being sold, stay away from Penguin Magic.
As far as reverse engineering, I am not against it. I have handled and used used an illusion that was based directly off of Henning's Origami base, rebuilt into a completely different effect.
That is why the great magicians actually have five or six ways of doing a trick.

What are the two basic things that motivate people to buy something? Hint: It's not the price. If either one of the two basic motivators are important enough, price is no object.Big Wallaby wrote:The second oldest profession is magic. The first is sales.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Showing that video to a friend, I couldn't help but think, I don't know what I think of a mariachi band having any in-ear monitors. But they make it work.
