Monorail Track Damaged by Cold Weather?
Re: Monorail Track Damaged by Cold Weather?
That seems slightly surprising to me considering Orlando has gone threw harder freezes with crazy highs the next day in the past but I guess anything is possible.

Re: Monorail Track Damaged by Cold Weather?
It's one thing to mention for safety that we're slowing down. It's quite another to tell someone the track was damaged. I don't know about you, but the images conjured up in my mind of a damaged track are not pretty.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I thought it was interesting that in Florida there's a city named Frostproof. It was even more interesting when I checked the average and record tempetures fit that it hasn't always lived up to its name.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Re: Monorail Track Damaged by Cold Weather?
I heard rumor that starting in early March both express and resort will be shut down from 1100-1830 for a few weeks. I'd have to assume it's for this. Anybody know anything?

I was there yesterday and even rode the monorail. They all seemed to be operating normally and I could not see any damage to the beams or their joints.

Re: Monorail Track Damaged by Cold Weather?
I strongly think that is has to do with some of the construction for The Grand Floridian Resort Without Spa.
If you go to the Advisories section of The Hub they even have a link to the schedule posted.

Re: Monorail Track Damaged by Cold Weather?
It's only about the new construction. The crane is operating a few feet from the beam so it's unsafe for the monorails to be running. They're sitting them in the stations, and having monorail CMs divert guests to watercraft. We're putting a cruiser on the gold route to accommodate ECVs and hummer strollers. Didn't seem to be any big issues. Supposedly they might also take advantage of the down time to work on a couple of the expansion joints.Cheshire Figment wrote:I strongly think that is has to do with some of the construction for The Grand Floridian Resort Without Spa.
