How recent is that photo, BW? We saw that wreck a few years ago and I don't remember there being that much left on the beach. I'd have to dig out my photos to compare, though.Big Wallaby wrote: Now then. Let's take a look at a shipwreck from 1906, the Peter Iredale. A sailing ship. Left on the beach to attract tourists for over a hundred years now. Whereas a tanker would probably not. It would just be ugly.

It has been a while since I last set my gaze upon the Iredale, last time was when I was a young child, if I remember right. So that picture could be ancient for all I know.

Every trip has something different. The dolphins were totally unexpected as they usually stay closer to shore where the bait fish are. They must have been out for a Sunday drive.Whazzup wrote:That would be soooo cool to see in person. Someday....
The whales were around but not very active. There was one competition pod but they were doing most of their punching below the surface.
When someday comes make sure it's in January or February. It always seems like that's when the most activity is.
Yeee haaaaaaaaaaaaa!!

Neat pictures. Those might be Dusky dolphins. They are known for such acrobatic feats.

We watched the special program on PBS this week about whales and dolphins. They are such amazing athletes, and so smart.
...on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much — the wheel, New York, wars and so on — whilst all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man — for precisely the same reasons. -- Douglas Adams, HHGTG
Whazzup wrote:We watched the special program on PBS this week about whales and dolphins. The Lil' Husker is missing Hawaii. I can't imagine why.
