Disney loves the super rich?

I heard disney will do almost anything for you if you have the bucks. any charactor anywhere you want them. even whole pars closes to the public just for you too. someone said a whole park for you starts at like 250.000 without charactors, stores or food. and you tell them what you want and they will quote you a price. and the rich can even rent special places, like that MK room and other neat things. any neat info to add to this?

We must remember that Disney is, of course, a business. It is a business that typically is known for superior customer service and an overall higher quality of "product", true, and in general is thought of as having "heart". However, they also know how to turn a buck. I'm sure there are some things they won't do, no matter how much money you throw at them, but if someone has the money to rent the whole darn park for an evening, basically buying out all the tickets for the time period of the party, why not?

Very true, but the same is true for our local amusement park and our local movie theater and almost any other entertainment/hospitality business I can think of. Are you saying it's a bad thing?

There are some things in Disney that can't be bought or rented, but they can be won, or at least they could when they were running this special promotion. ;)

I really disagree with that statement. Disney is a company that is focused on the bottom line. If some bucks up guy or company wants to buy or rent something within the company you can bet there is a price. That includes ABC and ESPN.

The Disney Company is currently capitalized at $63.33B. If someone comes along an offers a premium price, say like $80B, Iger and the board would sign off pretty fast.

That price seems way to low to me in order to "Rent the park".

This is why I suspect that:
I worked at SeaWorld Orlando for 4-5 years, as part of this I picked up extra hours during the holidays and summer working private parties/special events. A "Private" Shamu Show, after an early park closed was 30k back in 1998, this included a "Meet'n'Greet" with the whales also. The private Dolphin Show was an extra 15k.
I got to talking to the Special Event Coordinator that night and learned they also paid a base admission per person ($30 x1000 people=30k) plus the rental space for their event and food (15k at this exact event).
So this group alone, was 100k for the two shows and a fancy dinner for a thousand people. Granted this was some huge company and the people in attendance that night where all managers or above, I can't now recall who the company was but it was some computer company.
Now remember this is 1998, so if that's the modern day price for renting out a park at Disney.. DAMN! We need to pool our cash and get this done! :D:

Companies could do this at Knott's, too. There would be times the park would be closed early, and companies would have their employees and families enjoy the park at night. However, I have no idea how much it would cost.

There are conventions at Everest after park close regularly. It's mostly companies but I'm sure individuals have done it too. They buy the ride and the shop for the night. Sometimes they'll also buy out Dinoland.

The other week there were four or five different events going on on one evening. I know a wedding was held in Maharajah Jungle Trek and someone else bought out Everest and I heard there was another wedding in the Lion King theatre and other events were going on around the park.

If you have enough money Disney will gladly close the park for you. 250 grand though sounds a bit low to me, maybe to buy an attraction or two but not an entire park. However much it costs I guarantee you all the overhead to run everything you want open is paid for plus at least a decent profit margin. They'll set up bars throughout the park if you want them too (including in the Magic Kingdom), set up buffets and places to eat, etc.

People get married in front of Cinderella Castle every so often (with the bride arriving in Cinderella's glass coach). I don't know how much that costs but I do know it's very expensive.

Oh, and they do sell the Cinderella Castle Suite though I'm sure it costs a LOT of money. I remember when I was back on Main Street I heard about celebrities staying there.

I'm sure the prices vary quite a bit depending on what you want open and what park it is in plus what time of day you want to hold your event. I'm sure it's a little cheaper to hold the event after regular park close than it is to have Disney close a park early for the event.

I think this is a case of "If you have to ask how much it costs to rent the park, you can't afford it".
And that's what makes the cost so interesting to us punters !
