Just saw that on MSNBC. I knew he was getting up there, but wow! Glad the strip is staying in the family--son Jeffy is doing it now. Love that strip.

One of my favorite comic strips. I had to muster all the strength to not cry at work today. Bil Keane was a wonderful comic strip artist and man. I remember watching the Christmas, Easter, and Valentine cartoons when I was a kid.
There is a Disney connection to Bil Keane. It is through his son, master animator Glenn Keane. Glenn has created Ariel, the Beast, and many other wonderful characters.
Thankfully the strip will live on. Bil's son Jeff has been writing and drawing the strip for some time.

Rest in peace Bil and thank you. :grouphug:

I remember his strips were funny, with "Ida Know" and "Not Me" running around doing mischief...and "Grandpa" looking down from heaven at "Grandma" and the other funny things the kids did.

My favorite Family Circus strip is one where Dolly, upon seeing the Rodin "Thinker" statue at a museum says" ' I think he's trying to remember where he put his clothes'". :D:

Something else the obits are not mentioning about Bil Keane is that aside from Family Circus and Channel Chuckles, he had drawn another comic strip. It was called Silly Philly and it was his first comic strip and ran from 1947 to 1960. I don't think it's collected in any book form.
The strip is briefly mentioned in the Family Circus Album (25th anniv book) as Bil used the Silly Philly character as a background illustration from time to time.
Silly Philly, according to the Wiki entry, was a strip about a William Tell type figure who roamed around Philadelphia. (Bil Keane grew up around the area.)
Just putting it out there in case anyone was interested. :)
