Oh, You have to PAY?
Duh, I didn't know! I only got pictures of them, being rather star-struck :)
You and several other SGTers were mentioned fondly in remembrance of prior meets ;)

After watching segments using the street characters on Jimmy Kimmel I'm surprised they can remember yesterday.

We're back, and survived! Meeting DisneyMom and her son (DisneySon?) was an absolute treat for us! DM is even more sweet and wonderful -- and generous (she gave us several amazing pins!) -- than I imagined, and we had a great visit.

Hollywood Blvd was a bit overwhelming for Mrs. Wombat, in comparison to the placid lives we normally lead. Between the people loudly peddling souvenirs and tours, the panhandlers, the costumed people, and many who just seemed to be mentally unbalanced -- and trust me, there appeared to be a lot of overlap between those categories -- it was sensory overload for a bit. (A guy in a Michael Myers get-up carrying a large cardboard butcher knife especially creeped her out!) But meeting DM and spending time in the Disney Soda Fountain was a nice reprieve!

The movie (A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas) was every bit what I expected and more -- occasionally hilarious but very deserving of its R rating -- but the experience was pretty amazing. I promised DisneyMom that I'd crank out a trip report, so watch this space for an announcement about when I get that posted!

Thanks again, DisneyMom!

To quote a line from The Blue Knight by Joseph Wambaugh, "Where do you think you are, Wahoo, Kentucky? This is Hollywood, USA!" :D:

OMG! Joseph Wambaugh. There is a name I've not heard in forever. I LOVED his books. Have every one. He was a neighbor of my tia's in San Clemente. I always wanted to met him, but alas.

Wombat, I found your description of Hollywood Blvd interesting & funny. Has been weird as long as I can remember, so the area just seems normal to me. Wait, this sounds odd, :o: but if one is from L A or O C they know what I mean. You described DM perfectly, "sweet and wonderful -- and generous." Extremely generous! Her sense of humor is so sharp & fun also. You did meet one of SGTer's finest.

I've read all of his books too. It seemed like towards the end of what I'll call Wambaugh 1.0, he lost his writing mojo. The books got thinner and so did the content. It seemed like he was just going through the motions for a paycheck. Then came Wambaugh 2.0.

His series of books about Hollywood Station are great. Multiple plot lines, good character development, and the key piece of all his fiction, cop humor.

Believe me, there's a reason it's also known as "Holly-WEIRD"!

You both are the generous ones, I promise that getting to meet the Wombats and MS AND our other SGTers has been absolutely wonderful, and I only regret not having met more of the fine people on this board :)

I am looking forward to your Trip Report, Wombat!
