When I see a kid using the heelies in the park, I will approach and ask them to please not skate in the park. 9 times out of 10, I don't get any real problems from it.Big Wallaby wrote:We do what we can. As a bus driver, I tell people getting on my bus whose kids have the Heelys on that they are not allowed to have them in the parks. Then, when mom and dad are in a moment of shock (Oh, no! We have to go back to the room, get new shoes, come back and wait for another bus), I "let them in" on the fact that as long as Junior stays off the wheels and doesn't skate, none of the Cast members will be any the wiser, so just stay off the wheels.
Mind you, if mom and dad don't have that moment of shock and concern, I don't let them think they'll even get into the park with the skates. Usually, it works best at the Magic Kingdom.
The big thing of late is guests running around without shoes. Its raining a lot here in CFL right now, and guests being ... well guests ... aren't wearing sensible shoes. The other day outside of the Riverboat landing, I informed a guest she had to keep her shoes on in the park, and she informed me of how she had slipped recently wearing them. Rules are rules, she has to have shoes on, and I mentioned we sell shoes and so on. She got all huffy and was all about how if she slipped again and hurt herself, she was going to sue Disney. Had to get a chuckle out of that one. You wear unsensible shoes and slip because of your shoe choice in inclimate weather, and its our fault eh?
