I should have explained, Roger Williams is a Pianist. He played songs like "Born Free" and "Lara's Theme" from Dr. Zhivago.

I looked him up. Guy could write and play. RIP

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

I was reading his obit, and they focused more on his playing at the Crystal Cathedral than on his other works. It was like all he did was "Autumn Leaves".
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't he also sing a song about leaving England? For You Are Beautiful, something like that? Or was that someone else?

That's exactly the song that came to mind when I saw this thread, felinefan... but that was Roger Whittaker, "The Last Farewell." It was just on the edge of my memory, though -- had to do a bit of Googling to figure that out.felinefan wrote:...

As I was growing up I believe that my Dad had about 100 of his albums. Very popular in the 60's.

Thanks. Man, if I'm having that kind of senior moment at 55, can you imagine what I'll be like at 85?BRWombat wrote:That's exactly the song that came to mind when I saw this thread, felinefan... but that was Roger Whittaker, "The Last Farewell." For me, Google is becoming a workable substitute for memory.felinefan wrote:Thanks. Man, if I'm having that kind of senior moment at 55, can you imagine what I'll be like at 85?![]()

What did we do before Google and mobile devices. We used to get hung up on questions like "Who was the guy...?" or "What was the movie...?" or "Why is that name familiar?" You could watch the wheels turning and the smoke coming out of ears as people tried to dredge up the answers. Now the question is hardly finished ebfore someone is reaching for a smart phone.BRWombat wrote:For me, Google is becoming a workable substitute for memory.
