Okay, no, sorry. I may have exaggerated a tiny bit. It was a friend of a friend of my wife who once talked to a guy who read it on another board, etc.

I love that video, while I love lions (my favorite animal), it was funny to see the calf get away. The lack of vultures and carcase told them the calf survived it's wounds too.
A few years ago I saw a show on one of those channels that shows cute little animals eating other cute little animals. It started out talking about lions and shifted to other animals including elephants. One scene started out by saying the lion is king of the jungle and then showed four lions attacking an elephant. The elephant beat the snot out of all the lions and seemed to be laughing while delivering the smack down on them. :billcat: The scene ended with the voice over asking who was the real king. Extremely hilarious!! :elephant1

Man, I gotta go on a real safari....call it some type of continuing education.

Asks the guests getting off KSR and you will quickly learn that the only real live animal there is the baby elephant (who is not to be referred to as little red) at the very end. All other animals are animatronics...except the crocodiles those are just statues.

Seriously though the animals at AK do fight. Not sure who here heard about the Thompson's gazelle who tried to prove it was dominate to the Patterson's eland a month or so ago. Right on the savanna, from what I understand (wasn't working that day) in guest's view. It got kind of overshadowed because a few days later th SG jumped out of one of the trucks after his camera.

I have it on good authority that for the longest time, the zebras had to be all but quarantined from the rest of the plains animals.

And I wonder why they got rid of the Big Red/Little Red storyline.

Oh defiantly animals that are having reoccurring problems with fighting are kept separate until the issue is resolved. Same goes for new animals while they get used to things. How they go about making them getting along better I have no idea. I could see the zebras having to be kept alone...saw one kick a white rhino a while back, neither got hurt so it was funny. Most of the the animal 'fighting' are isolated events that just happen for whatever freak reason. People just seem to forget these aren't cats and dogs out there, show is not the only reason drivers are not allowed to get out of their trucks.

Because they were AAs. Now Disney can honestly say that all the animals are real.

Also, the term "hokey" did not do the story line justice.

Floridian, you have an interesting job. I will have to be on the lookout for you in a few weeks, but since I have no idea what you look like, etc. I will just have to whisper to every driver....PSSSSTTT---I know a stupid guest trick and see what happens. :D:
BTW..Zebras ARE some mean ass cusses. beautiful but mean.

And Chessy--Hokey is an extreme understatement LOL

AA is still there we just now have to call it the baby elephant. Ya'll seen the new story line yet? If you thought the old one was hard to follow you will have no clue whats going on now. If you stand outside the cheers docks listening the guests who just get off the safari you will hear tons of "What happened at the end there?" "Why were there poachers?" "Where did that baby elephant come from?"

I am sure sometimes its the driver's fault that no one got whats going on but its a pretty hard story to pull off now. We very rarely talk to Wilson anymore, and some of the props on the ride path don't match the story line. So its really completely up to the drive to make the story work at all. One thing I love about the new spiel is the absence of Wilson's 'favorite wildlife researcher'. Sorry if any of the guys liked Jobson in the story but she just got on my nerves.

If you think that storyline was hokey, you should have seen the original version with a big dead Big Red by the side of the road!
