Jobs was 56, and I had heard he had cancer.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

That's why he had to resign as CEO.

Wonder what impact this'll have. Apple vanishing? Will they keep up with their innovation? Or is the human race screwed? I was assuming Apple would've been the leading technology for us for awhile, now? Not so much.

RIP.

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.

I worked for Apple in '85 - '86 and was there when Skully pushed him out the door. He was a wild man who didn't suffer fools at all. He was a genius at seeing what was needed in the future and able to drive the people around him to do unbelievable things.

His return to Apple via the buyout of NEXT to get their OS saved Apple in a number of ways. There were a lot of hotshots at NEXT that took a fading company and made it what it is today. I don't think the Apple execs that bought NEXT really knew what they were getting.

My happiest moment was hearing about Ellen Hancock (Mrs. Hancock to her friends) telling Steve he would be working for her. Steve went to the board and demanded to know WTF that had done to his company? They made him CEO and his first step was to fire Mrs. Hancock. Forget about the MacPro's, MacBook's, MacAir's, the iXXX's, I loved him for that.

RIP Steve. You made the world a more interesting place.

My wife just reminded me about Steve's Christmas tree. He lived about a mile from where we lived on the Mainland.

Every year we'd load up the kids and cruise around looking at Christmas trees. One year we stopped in front of Steve's house to look at the tree in the front window. It was huge and very well decorated. All of a sudden My wife says there's someone looking back at us. It was Steve. Apparently it was cool to put up a neat tree but he didn't want anyone hanging around looking at it. We all had a good laugh about pissing off the billionaire.

Larry Ellison would have probably fired off a couple rounds.

Very sad news, but with the pancreatic cancer, it wasn't unexpected. :(

Thank you Steve Jobs for seeing the potential with computer animation and buying a little division from Lucasfilm called Pixar.
Most of all thank you Steve Jobs for thinking differently. RIP
