Great Costume Place

A place to be entertained. Videos, jokes, games, and more.
Forum rules
At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.

Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Holy Copyright Infringement, Batman. :batman:

Homemade costumes made for personal use and not for sale = Okay
A business where you take other people's characters and make unlicensed costumes and sell them = Not So Much

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't think I am.

Also, the few costumes I looked at just show screenshots from the show/game/etc, not what the actual costumes look like...

*Whispers* Their stuff isn't that nice and their to highly priced for the cheap fabric they use.

You'd be surprised how often once people find out you can sew, demand Disney princess dresses. It can't be pattern, no those aren't right! It has to be the exact dress, looking exactly like the movie.

To which the normal response is: Do I LOOK like a seamstress? Go commission someone, I'm not THAT talented!

The ones based on Japanese media are legit. They have differing copyright law over there, and Cosplay is pretty heavily encouraged by many Anime and Manga studios...

The X-Men, Avatar, etc tho is strictly speaking illegal.

Besides which, if you want a high quality cosplay, you don't go to one of these sites. You contact a seamstress who can, as Darksin mentioned, get everything just right... or you do it yourself. You can't enter the Cosplay Contest with a commissioned or bought costume.
