Hurricane Irene

Post by avengador1 » Mon Aug 22, 2011 10:37 am

For those of us in Florida, I'm sure you all are aware of the possibility of Hurricane Irene hitting the Disney area between Friday and Saturday. It may even be as big as a category 3 hurricane. I was wondering what is SOP for CMs under those conditions, as my son will be working this weekend.

Hopefully it turns out like Fernanda did for us this last weekend. We didn't even get any rain. Wimp!

Yuck! Last night was rough at work because of Irene. People are shopping already (which is a good thing) but I am not looking forward to rebuilding the water aisle tonight (I work for BJ's btw, no really I do :whistlng: )

Of course! Otherwise who would come to the next one?

The tsunami parties are a whole other deal. We get overrun by tourists who are told to head to high ground when the sirens go off. They, of course, aren't told to take any water or food and if it's during the day, they're frying in the sun.

We'll take bottled water and hand it out and tell them where the construction site porta-potties are.

It would seem logical that the hotels would hand out disaster kits with power bars and water to their displaced guests. It might cost a little money but the good will created would more than pay for it.

The one in Boynton?

Mrs. Skippy ran out to get some last minute school supplies (why send a list home at the end of the year, post it in the stores, then change it on the first day of school and expect everyone to have everything) and stopped for gas. After an hour, I called to make sure she was coming back. She said the gas line was absolutely nuts, but the Skippy-mobile was on E so she had to wait.

Parties of 33 should consider dividing their parties into two groups of 16 and a half each.

Hey... When you're out of cash, it's good to know.

But for those outside their service area, BJ's is this really cool store... I would compare it to Costco but it's so much better. If you don't have a BJ's in your area, I am sorry for your lack.

I think you guys are safe. The last track I saw looks like it's headed to South Carolina. We had a few tense moments when the track had it squarely hitting Jekyll Island. But now it looks like it will miss us and go on up the coast.
