This is the case for me too with Mugs I bought at the Poly in 2000. I am a DVC member now, and have no need for mugs. But if I was at the Poly I'd use them--it was quite clear at the time that they were good for all trips for all time.

I'm pretty sure that Disney can change the terms of the agreement, I'm sure there is fine print that no one had read. At least the lawyers at Disney can produce one for the court at a moments notice.

Fine print? I did not sign a contract when I bought the mug. If you are saying the sign that advertised "good forever" had fine print I really truly doubt that. I read things when I buy them. For example I have a brick in the TTC. When I bought it the contract clearly said that after ten years Disney had the right to remove the brick if they so desired. It's still there 12 years later, but if they removed it I realize they have the right. I recall nothing written about the mugs at the time of purchase that would lead me to believe the terms could change. I am not insisting you are wrong ktulu, but I think I would remember if there was anything advertised stating a possible change in the future.

Say it's not so!!!!! Try prying my Dr. Pepper out of my hand....go on, try. LOL I'll never give it up...not without a major fight. I do agree it would solve problems, but I have a high metabolism, so adding weight due to soda is not a concern. Although, my kids do not drink soda (except for the 3 year old....he likes to steal mine!). Amy doesn't like it at all and Kyle gets a Sprite as a treat every now and again.

Actually, you did. Any time there's an exchange of material or services for money a contract has been executed.

Rest assured that Disney makes money off of me. The most sodas I've ever gotten with one mug was 4.

Thank you Hobie :)
I am willing to bet that there was one of those magical *'s that said for more details blah blah blah. I've never seen a Disney advertisment without one. There is one company that does honor a mug deal. Whataburger and their nickel coffee mugs. You bring it in, and get coffee for a nickel! My step-dad might have one or two around his place. I guess I need to see if he does...

The last time I think I bought a mug at Disney was when they sold them in the parks and offered .50 cent refills.
So about, 1995 or so would be accurate :)
Although it's silly if you ask me. Fountain soda is so cheap and nearly all profit that odds are most people who buy the mug will probably not spend it's cost in soda (Meaning the true cost of the soda from a 'You Pour Fountain, it was something between .05 and .20 cents last time we worked out the math). I know Universal will allow you to use their old mugs, the red refillable ones, time after time but I honestly never remember to bring the dumb thing with me. So now I've got a collection of 3, either way for the amount of iced tea I can and will consume at a park it's been worth the $10 for a four day park hopper.
Now, all you can drink booze package like the cruise ships used to offer.. I want THAT at a park! :D:
Frankly it was a good deal, it was $80 per person in 2005. If you add the cost of a glass of wine with dinner x2: About $12. Then your average of 2 cocktails per day x2 people: About $40... now add in 5 days of this and you get a total of $300 counting tips. It was a good deal, I wish they still offered it! Granted, we had more then 2 each some nights since it was our Honeymoon.
Now if WDW or USO offered that for something like Halloween Horror Nights or Food and Wine, I'd be all over that like a fly to.. yeah you get it ;)
Now that I'm thinking about it, that's a good idea for Food and Wine. Offer a passport of some kind, that will get you a drink at each 'country' and one of the food samples of your choice. It could be optional, some could include just the stands and others just the main World Showcase countries.
..Holy crap now I want one!

Jumping back to the RFID discussion... with the thoughts of tracking guests in the future with their RFID tags throughout the park, what are the chances they are doing that now with us and the costuming tags?
Parties of 33 should consider dividing their parties into two groups of 16 and a half each.

If you mean keeping track of how much time you spent where, probably not. It's a different set of problems from tracking customer buying habits and even entries and exits at points of interest. To track the costumes it would take a whole lot of receivers and the amount of data would be huge. To get the right coverage, receivers would have to overlap, and to monitor in any meaningful way they'd have to poll frequently. So you end up with a lot of data points that need to be de-duped (due to overlap) and interpretted. It would be a lot of work and resources for a general thing.
If there was a more focused purpose to the tracking, it might be more likely.
