Mobile hotspots in the parks?
I am planning to buy a prepaid mobile hotspot to use in the parks next month. My choices are Virgin Mobiles MiGo or the T Mobile 4G prepaid hotspot.
Can you locals shed any light on which will have better service in the parks? This method will be much cheaper than the roaming charges on my Canadian phone.

Virgin Mobile runs on the Sprint network, which has pretty good coverage in the parks. They also tend to have much cheaper plans than the major carriers.

Central Florida is pretty well covered by all major carriers. I have US Verizon and always have gotten full 3G smartphone service at the parks.

AT&T sucks. I can't tell you how often my iPhone shows Searching... or one bar of service. But anything running on the Sprint/Verizon network (they have a deal where they share towers, so if you have one you have the other) is gonna at least be decent.Darksin wrote:Central Florida is pretty well covered by all major carriers.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

In Frontierland and also at the Plaza Inn, the cell phones loose signal. I have verizon and going towards the Mark Twain, the phone chokes out. My sister tried texting me in the Plaza Inn and I never got a text because there was no signal.
The other night when I went to the park with brother and his son, we noticed that there were no WiFi signs. There use to be areas near the stair cases and this time we saw nothing.

What did you expect?!?! Did Davey Crockett have 3G service? :D:
Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

I second that ATT sucks. My cell usually won't work in the room while my husband's Verizon phone will. I do get service in the parks but it comes and goes.

That's such a change from when I was touring, 12 years ago. My ATT phone out of Chicago had great service everywhere, except in Kansas City, where the issue was that no company had good service. The phone even worked in basements and some underground garages, like at the Shubert in LA. I thought ATT was great back then.DonutGoddess wrote:I second that ATT sucks. There is a nice hot spot right near btmr.
expecially in the summer on days with no wind.
even my rat sweats when I take her there.

Some places my ATT iPhone does wonderful. But WDW is not one of them. Nor is my bedroom for that matter. Very annoying.
