What the heck? This is the thread where I made the teleporting smilie request Zazu referred to, but my post is not here.

Downtown is where we have the most crazies, as well, and of course the streets are lined with parked cars and double-parked delivery truck for them to hide behind before suddenly appearing in your lane. We're running through there right before 4:00 weekdays, so lots of people getting off work or just ducking out early I think.

The other place where it's bad you've got a much better line of sight, so the jaywalking is more annoying that totally terrifying. Plus the space between stoplights is longer there so I can understand not wanting to go that much out of your way (downtown it's not just shorter blocks but a light every corner). The downtown guys are much more likely to hustle across, though -- a higher percentage of the guys crossing the other road are apparently less about ignoring the lights to get across sooner and more about owning the road through their sheer lack of vehicle, so they stroll. *sigh*

Gotta tell you, people jumping out into the middle of the street...frustrating. I'll brake and horn..but sometimes I'd like a truck horn wedged inside of my economy car, or maybe even one of these babies.

Ouch! I think my ears started to bleed just reading about those!

Zazu, do you think you could find a smilie for the violence category related to too much noise? :D:

I like the Wakes The Dead model but the compressor is so big that your engine would stall every time you honked the horn. :D:

Now that would be fun on the minivan! It would certainly send them home for a change of clothes !

Frankly, I confused about that as well. I tried to reply in this thread, but it not only didn't work, it deleted both my post and yours. Sorry about that (even if it wasn't my doing).

Gang, please check your posts from the past couple of days, and if anything else is missing, please report it to the admins. If it happens once, it's a glitch. If it's happened even twice, that's a bug we need to fix.

Personally, rather than a louder horn, I would like a P.A. system. That way, I can specify what someone is doing that is causing the problem. :cat1:

If they policed jaywalking in my part of town, one of two things would happen: 1.) the county would have more money in its coffers (but knowing them, they'd just use it for salary increases for the big wigs) or, most likely 2.) a riot on their hands. Most people who jaywalk are homeless people and immigrants as well as the elderly, and they'd be sceaming about how they're being picked on. Not to mention how do they think they can afford to pay from their meager wages , public assistance, etc.. So not worth it.

I'd use both...that would be too much fun.
