Peter Falk was one of my favorites! That old car he drove, his comments abt his wife, & his note pad + his class all equaled a Great Columbo & fun entertainment. Thanks for the laughs Mr. Falk. You were wonderful. R I P sir.

"Peter Falk, who marshaled actorly tics, prop room appurtenances and his own physical idiosyncrasies to personify Columbo, one of the most famous and beloved fictional detectives in television history, died on Thursday night at his home in Beverly Hills, Calif. He was 83...."
I knew he was in failing health but I'm sorry to see him go.

NOOOOOO.
He almost didn't get the role of Columbo because someone involved thought he was too young -- I forget who fought for him but I've always blessed that man. I was watching the first season of Columbo the other day and was amazed at how little he'd visibly aged over the years. The first movie, yeah, but by the end of the season he'd settled into the role and you really had to consciously look to see the difference.
While he wasn't necessarily so rumpled in his other roles, they always had that same underlying comfortable feeling somehow. :)

I never got into Columbo, but The Princess Bride wouldn't have been the same without him. "As you wish..." <sniff>
RIP, Mr. Falk.

His characters always had such warmth. I was trying to remember when he'd played a bad guy, and the best I could do was his character in The Great Race. Who I still saw as pretty lovable. :p: I should check imdb and see if I'm totally blanking out bad guys there.

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.
