Food has made it difficult to find nice clothes that don't make me look like I'm carrying ten kids after menopause, made it hard to sit comfortably and do puzzles or write unless I'm at a desk or table, and from what I see when I stand up nice and straight, suck in my gut and tighten my stomach muscles, it's hiding an incredibly feminine figure. Of course, none of this would've happened had my family not made me a walking garbage disposal....

I understand that last statement because I was also told to eat, clean your plate, food is expensive, blah, blah, blah. The result was basically a lifetime of obesity. But you know what...right at the point in time when I left home, for good, at age 21, it was me and me alone that was in control of the switch to that garbage disposal. So as much as I would love to blame them for this situation, they had control for 20 years...I have had control for almost 43. I think I know who is to blame in my case. :)felinefan wrote:Food has made it difficult to find nice clothes that don't make me look like I'm carrying ten kids after menopause, made it hard to sit comfortably and do puzzles or write unless I'm at a desk or table, and from what I see when I stand up nice and straight, suck in my gut and tighten my stomach muscles, it's hiding an incredibly feminine figure. Wouldn't that mean that you had maximum energy? Just a veritable whirlwind of movement? Can't sit still for a minute? Then again...I could be confused.darph nader wrote:Clear something up for me. How does a "lack" of energy hit ZERO?![]()

And don't do it near the fireworks. Last thing you need is the "rockets' red glare"!drcorey wrote:Be Patriotic!

Well, in my case, it was more like one of my siblings would whine to mom, "I can't finish this" and she'd reply, "Give it to (Felinefan)." I tried losing weight so many times, my siblings would tempt me with all kinds of things, and if mom caught me eating something I wasn't supposed to, she'd say, "I thought you were on a diet." Or if I proudly announced that I'd lost weight, she'd say "Don't lose too much weight!" No, we're not Jewish. I was on my own for 4 1/2 years, I did lose some weight, but my problem is 1.) lack of willpower and 2.) need to exercise more. I don't have the money for even the cheap gym. So my weight has gone up and down. And when I was in the shelter, they feed you so much it isn't funny. And they only give you breakfast and dinner. Now I'm renting part of a house with six roomies, we basically have our own food supplemented with donations, but I spend too much time in front of a computer doing this stuff. Would love to get a bike, but the way people drive around here scares the hoo-hoos out of me. And I come close to getting run over by people on bikes when I'm on the sidewalk as it is. Don't people know that you're supposed to share the road with drivers? And wear a helmet? Oh, wait--"You, out of the gene pool!" One of those kind of things.

Walking is better exercise than none, and costs nothing but a little time. I enjoy bike riding and I need to ride more, spent good money on a nice bike and I haven't ridden it nearly enough. Are there any bike/hiking trails in your area? I live near one that I enjoy riding on. I live close enough to bike there, and have, but have taken to driving there with my bike on the back of the car as I have to cross a very busy intersection which I don't feel safe biking across.felinefan wrote:Well, in my case, it was more like one of my siblings would whine to mom, "I can't finish this" and she'd reply, "Give it to (Felinefan)." Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.
