The pain won't be gone until the therapy is over!
But take it from me, it's *worth* the pain. *Do* the therapy, it's the key to getting full use of your had back. Besides, it'll surprise hell out of your therapist!

Ha! Reminded me of something a friend says to her kids,
"The lesson will continue until the lesson is learned."
Works for all of life, too.

Last week I had an eye problem that turned out to be a torn retina. The fix is using a laser to spot weld the retina back together. Before starting the doc tells me this could be the most painful thing I'll ever experience. I replied, "You obviously are too young to have experienced a sigmoidoscopy."
He replied, "Oh."

The tear was caught before it turned into a detached retina. I called the local advice nurse who said it was floaters. Wanting a second opinion I called a part time neighbor who is an opthamologist to the stars in Beverly Hills. After hearing my symptoms he said if I was his patient I'd be in his office the next morning. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
I called the Honolulu advice line and half way through my story the nurse said I needed to be seen. I was in the chair at 11 AM the next day.
I've still got thousands of itty bitty dots and a floater that looks like a ragged thread but they're suppose to dissipate with time.
Along with TV during the sigmoidoscopy they should also play Queen's Under Pressure. :D:

Hobie, hope everything goes ok for you.
DM, Zazu & BW - thank you so much....and you are all so right....the first month is going to be the worst. I cannot believe how much my hand hurt Wednesday night when I got home from work (after the first full day of use). But...it's getting better. I have my frist PT session in 2 hours...I like the therapist and she knows I'll take the pain if it will make recovery faster and better.
My hand aches every once and awhile, but nothing I can't handle. The poor kids though.....Amy and Kyle had to take turns pushing the stroller at the zoo yesterday because I can't (and I didn't realize that until I tried to push it for a bit). But they're so good and they are doting older siblings.
**If anyone's interested....I have the zoo pics up on Facebook. We left Daddy at home for the day cause that's all he wanted for Father's Day...a little time by himself.

Thanks! The fog clears a little more every day but it looks like I've got a caterpillar crawling across my eye.

Get better soon Hobie.
Dragon, have you tried one of those melted wax machines to help your hand feel better? My mom has REALLY bad arthritis in her fingers and she has one that she swears by. You melt this gigantic block of wax in this machine that sort of looks like a slow cooker, and then dip your hand in, let it cool a bit, and dip it in again to get another coating of wax. She lets the wax stay on there a while (it will hold the heat in for quite a bit but not enough to be hurtful) and then peels the whole thing off. It really feels nice and as a side bonus, it take the dead skin off your hand a makes it nice and smooth.
