Zazu, I really did think of that but a manager was also very difficult to find that night (several guests as well as myself were trying to get the desserts refreshed as there were none out and it took us 5 to 10 minutes to find anyone who was willing to help, managers, chefs or wait staff) and we were now really late to get back to Epcot to see Illuminations and try to get in at Soarin (with out FP's). My youngest daughter was down from Boston for a visit that week and it was my only night off so we just left.

I'm at the point of just paying cash without a discount or renewing my DDP card, At least that does not have the automatic gratuity added.

Lurker here with my first post....please be gentle :o:

I'm curious as to how the CM's feel about the gratutity not being included anymore?

I just kind of feel that alot of the CM's in the TS restaurants are going to get ripped off. Let's face it, you all know there are stupid people out there and they will find stupid excuses to stiff the servers.... they didn't know the tip wasn't included anymore since it was always included before (and SG always read the brouchures  ), they couldn't figure it out since the meal was "free" and only gave $1-2 per person...etc.

Honestly, I only used the DDP 2 times (1x free dining, 1x paid as DVC member) and wasn't a fan of it so I had no intention of using it again anyway. Both times we did tip extra because most of the time, I felt the CM's deserved so much more than the 18%.

Anyway, keep up the great work! heading back to lurker mode :)

The automatic tipping is not fair except with large groups. I tip $3 minimum per person even on a $6 meal if the service is good. I rarely tip below 25%. It is not fair that one worker can do a really bad job and get the same tip as a person who is excellent. With automatic gratuity a waiter could do the minimum required and make $5 to $20 per table and that could be over $200 an hour for slinging hash instead of caring for customers.

I did not like the Dining Plans as I am a cheapskate.
Not a CM but that is my view.

The same people that would stiff a server are the same people would be too cheap to pay for the dining plan with the changes as is and would eating at counter service anyway, so the point is mute.

Ok, I guess I should have clarified it more. I meant some of the people that expect the free dining offer every year...the ones that find every excuse, every loophole, every way possible to exploit the plan. ;)

I thought some of the CM's actually prefered the DDP for European guests since the tip was included too.

Again, personally, I don't care one way or the other since we don't plan on using the DDP again anyway. I was just curious. :)
