Only days away....
Only days away....
Well, I'm only an occasional lurker, an even less-often poster, but I relish all of the SGT stories posted on here. At last, the on-again-off-again trip that a friend and I have been trying to make happen for years is upon us. We head down to WDW on Thursday for the upcoming "most magical weekend of all". ;)
One night at Pop, seven at BCV. (Which my friend does not know about... He thinks we're transferring to OKW. I have a whole plan worked out in my head to keep it a secret until we actually walk up to the front desk at BC and I say that we're checking in, though there is one weak-point in the plan... We'll see if if actually happens)
My one big regret is that PI and the Adventurers Club closed before my friend was able to get back down to Florida. (His last trip was probably '98 or so)
I shall report back with any and all SGT's I see. :)
Does anyone like to get recognized in the parks?

Congratulations, Rob, on your trip finally coming to fruition. You'll have a great time, and BCV is beautiful! Your friend is going to have quite a surprise. Hope all goes smoothly. Looking forward to hearing about your trip.

Hope you have a wonderful trip. And if I was going to be here while you were in the parks I would say sure come and find me, but I am going home for the first time in almost a year.

I've seen your name enough to remember it, and you have a post count of over 100. Do you count as a lurker? Nah, I say you're a regular enough contributor. Was a day not too long ago when I had pretty much passed everyone else with not too many more posts than you have now. I'll go get my walker.
In all seriousness, though, if I pick up a shift, I am all for meeting. Send a PM my way if you haven't left yet. Love your plan for your upgrade.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?
Re: Only days away....
Well, the trip has come to an all-too-quick end. (Where the heck did 8 days go?) Not quite home yet, as I'm visiting family in Virginia until Monday.
I'll eventually post two SGT's in the WDW forum in the upcoming days, one which could have resulted in serious bodily harm to the SG, the other involving us admonishing some SG teens in the Star Tours queue and it escalating from there into a confrontation with them and their parent...
But as for the accommodations surprise, it went off without a hitch. The one weak point I foresaw was getting the baggage to Bell Services at Pop, but I called them while my friend John was in the shower and turns out they could pick the bags up in the room without us even being there.
Then that afternoon we walked from Studios over to Beach Club "for my friend to pick us up for a grocery run and then to OKW", talking up the whole "Oh look at the pool, isn't the lobby beautiful, wish we could stay here" routine. Then I "had to ask a question" of the CM at the front desk, we walked up, I turned to John, said "By the way, I've been lying to you this whole time", then back to the CM "Hi, we're checking in." :)
John chuckled and thought I was joking and the CM was just playing along with me until she started actually reading my info from her computer.;-) The scope of the deception didn't fully sink in for a few hours, I think. ;-)
Even though I'd requested a room on the lobby end of the Villas but ended up in one of the farthest rooms out, I have to say we still loved BCV and its proximity to Epcot. I think we were there 4 nights out of the 7.
SGT stories to follow in the WDW forum in a day or three.

Rob, somehow I missed this thread until right now. I hate when that happens. I would love to have had you go out and pester Little Wallaby for me. She would have loved it.
There simply must be a next time.

BW, I may be back down in January to cheer for my co-worker who's running the WDW Marathon (and also act as her tour guide in the parks). Still up in the air at the moment, though.Big Wallaby wrote:Rob, somehow I missed this thread until right now. I hate when that happens.
