As a meteorologist (don't throw rotten fruit at me please), I just have to say that that could be the best thing to happen to you Hobie. If all the SG that are visiting decide to go visit the Hurricane (now projected to pass just south of the big island as a cat 3) it could get rid of some of the issues plagueing your area for a little while. They could go driving and watching the wind pick up and just continue right off the road towards the Hurricane.

:drown
But this should cause some righteous waves.

So let me get this straight. Hurricane Flossie started in the Pacific? Well, that suits me that I would move to Florida so the hurricanes move to the west coast. I'm sure it suits a bunch of Floridians, too. I didn't realize that such an important part of the world such as the weather revolved around me. :D:
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

The south east coast of the Big Island has a bunch of stuff to kill tourists. If it's not the occasional hurricane with the high winds and huge waves, it's the volcano that attracts them to the water's edge and then parboils them with steam.

We're in pretty good shape in West Maui. We're far enough north so the winds shouldn't be too bad and we're kinda protected by the West Maui mountains. The house is about 200 feet above sea level so there's little chance of flooding. We pulled all the junior sailing boats out of the water yesterday just to be safe. There's plenty of food and water stashed in the garage and a bunch of bananas are ready to pick in the back yard. Life is good!

Hobie16,
Did you get wacked by the earthquake today? If so, how did you and yours make out.
I think that I'm going to stick to FL. We only get hurricanes, I'm not sure that I want to dodge an earthquake and a hurricane in the same week.

I notoced that you did not say anything about beer.
Either Darph is there and drank it all or you are trying to discourage a visit from Darph. :D:

The earthquake was about 7:30 last night. We didn't feel anything.
I'll make a Costco beer run today. Those new Heineken self contained mini kegs look like the way to go.
