Ive had a few groups of kids try that on Big Thunder and Splash. My response: "You can catch up after the ride." or "They can wait for you at the load platform" So far it has only been pairs of tween girls that have tried this, I dont think I would refuse to let older kids pass, for fear of my own safety. I have blocked more than my share of Brazillions, who don't even try and make an excuse, they just want to push past. So my family gets veery wide when we see the coming behind us. So sorry, no room to pass. The people in front of us have assisted with this on occasion as well!

1. Good for you!
2. I have to know...Brazillions: typo, or clever pun on their sheer numbers?

Also, I feel this is appropriate to the thread (not that any of us needs the lesson, just the amusement):

I should have thought the answer is obvious, the 2 in front could go BACK with their friends. That would be the answer I'd give for ANY group that is larger than, say, 2 people. And one of them better be under 5 years old.

Like you we (my mom and I) block the line. We don't mind letting parent and child catch up to the rest of their family, since when a little one's gotta go... but we refuse to let a hoard get by us. We stand on opposite sides of the line facing each other and we will each put a foot up on the lower level of the opposite barricade, effectively blocking the line. The only problem with this method is that the people behind have a tendency to try to stand on top of me, so when this happens, we flip to method two. Method two involves me standing behind my mom with one hand on each of the railings and leaning back ever so slightly. Then if the person behind, either SG or pushy brazillion, starts getting pushy or too close, I just have to rock back a little more and rock into them.

If a group of more than 2 or 3 tries to get through, "No, sorry, your party can wait for you to catch up."

One of my favorite scenarios on the railroad:

"But you have to let me on! My family is on the train!"

"Sorry, but it seems they decided not to wait for you. Sounds like you may have some issues to discuss ... if you ever see them again."

Ah, my finest moment at Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage at DLR.

Second summer it was open, summer wait times still pushing towards 120 minutes. I was working Guest Control at the spot where we opened the chains for folks using the wheelchair entrance, getting to the MOO, and the like, and this group of people came up to join their party towards the front of the line.

The party at the front of the line was 2 people, and the group wanting to get in was 12.

Long story short, in no uncertain terms, they were told they were not joining their group. When they told me that they were going to City Hall, I looked square in their "leaders" eyes, told them that they were more than welcome to do so. In fact, I will call ahead, let City Hall know to expect them, that they knew my name (at the time, there were three-five Tony/Anthony's working the attraction), and they knew that I was very firm in not letting their group of twelve who decided to ride Matterhorn while TWO of their group held a place in line into our attraction.

Only time I ever had a lead look at me and thank me for not calling them, and the group never made it to City Hall. The lead made the call for me, and the rest of the guests in line loved the show because not once during the tirade did I stop smiling.

Years of retail have made me evil.

One of my all-time favorite stories here on SGT. :)

I would have said to the group "Actually, we have an extra-special pre-show room just for you. It's right through here...." and then ushered them out the side exit door that's right there in the Briefing Room staging area and shut the door behind them...

There is a thread on Board X at the moment in which (surprise, surprise) people defend quite vociferously their right to not stand in line like everyone else.

A guest behind me loudly exclaims "WOW! I didn't know Disney made so many concessions for stupid folk."

I almost fell on the ground laughing. SGs TOTALLY heard it too, and tried to hide themselves as they were cutting in line.
Of course they still cut in line. God forbid they have to wait a few more minutes to ride.
