The 'what have you been up to' thread?
Re: The 'what have you been up to' thread?
Hi Dragonfox! Thanks for the update, (in the thread you posted) I hope your hand is healing up quickly!
MonorailRed it's so good to 'see' you! I think about you often. Wish we had had the chance to get coffee while I was down in WDW last year, would have loved to talk trains with you. Glad to hear things are going good for you!
I think I forgot to thank GaTech for the 'translation' on Kurtis' post- thanks, dear lady! Sorry about that. Brain is not firing on all thrusters these days...too much going on.
xoxo

Re: The 'what have you been up to' thread?
Now that I've wiped the tears from my eyes after reading all the kind and encouraging responses to Bru's post about her (temporarily clueless) daughter, I will say HELLO MY DEAR BRU! :waves:
I'm just getting back to checking out SGT after a few weeks' absence. My sister and I spent 9 lovely (but way too hot) days at WDW earlier this month, enjoying the parks and relaxing around the resorts (BWV & OKW - split stay). We really enjoyed our dinner meet-up with Zazu and SWMBO, and even tracked down Shorty82 in Asia (at DAK) for a quick hug and hello in the rain.
We met some great CMs but none of them responded to my "Are you on SGT?" inquiry. You guys remain well hidden. ;)
We're in the midst of building a new roof on our house. It was a flat tar & gravel roof and now it has trusses and shingles and the whole works. And the best part is that my DH did it all himself (he's a carpenter). He's still putting up vinyl soffit but the end is in sight. It will make a big difference in heating, cooling, and the cost of homeowner's insurance. Should get about a $500 discount just for having a real roof on the place.
I think of you often, Miss Bru, and hope you are doing well. I am so sorry to hear that your daughter can't deal with your medical condition, but as others have said, she'll come around. I just hope it doesn't take too long. I can't imagine anything more painful than "losing" a child, even if it's just temporary. You have had enough pain and suffering in your life - we want you to be WELL and HAPPY! So stay strong and take one day at a time. We love you.

Sorry Hobie, couldn't pass this up. Good thing it will be raining while the tech is hanging on the pole. :D:hobie16 wrote: That means the repair tech (use to be me) is gonna wet while hanging on a telephone pole.

To my favorite Bru Fairy,
I'm glad things are going okay. I'm sorry about your daughter but I echo the sentiments of the others, she will come around. I'm just really glad to hear from you again!
To Cranbiz,
We always stay at the Desert Inn across from the parks. The rooms are basic & clean and the rates always seem reasonable. Parking can be a little tight but since the parks and some restaurants are walking distance, the car pretty much just stays put.
Now for my update...
Just finished another semester of community college and I'm looking at going to a CSU in the fall. I got a part-time job with a local sports arena... I'm the back-up lighting technician. This means I get to work a hockey game when the regular tech isn't available and I get to work most of the arena football games. (I'm getting tired of cowbell!) Right now, Hubby and I are dealing with the Wonderpup's issues. The dog has had two knee surgeries (last one in April) and was diagnosed yesterday as having arthritis in a wrist and elbow. It's just a little tough to see an otherwise healthy 4 year old dog having trouble moving.

Bru, I am so sorry to hear that! I hate asking, but what is the back story (if you don't want to say, I understand). :(February wrote:
Now for some of my news, I guess, since we're four pages in.
My teen daughter is now in full custody of her father and stepmother. She moved out in February. Her main reasons were:
She wanted to live with the family that 'supports her faith' (and you guys know the back-story there :( :( :( and that she 'couldn't stand to see me suffer' any more.

I will be your guide for this magical journey into the movies. It's the perfect job for me, because I love movies! Is everybody ready? Great, because it's showtime. Ready when you are, CB!
