I work in the IT side of health care, and in addition to the well known "privacy and portability" side of HIPAA there are the "Administrative Simplification" aspects of the law. There is also an enhancement/clarification concerning privacy that came with the recent health care legislation that sounds reasonable on the surface but is a technical nightmare. A lot of it makes sense, suprisingly, but there is also a lot that elicites a reaction of "How are we suppsoed to do that?"TeamUBR wrote:OK, sounds like there is a story there...
It all makes sense now... I feel your pain. I'm an RN but manage Performance Improvement at one of the Top 10 Hospitals. I've been in administration for the last 15 years mostly in PI type roles. If it weren't for the "common sense" provisions, HIPAA would have killed us all long ago. It is still amusing getting the latest FAQ's to see how they are interpreting it today.WEDFan wrote:I work in the IT side of health care
Zazu. I thought we weren't going to give them all the details. Next, I suppose you're going to tell them about the crocodiles, as well.Zazu wrote:Well, the chain is from a chainsaw, and the ball is from Indiana Jones....
