At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

OK,It's that time again!
For those of you who are newer, every year my Family and Friends join together at the Rose Bowl for our area's Walk Now For Autism Speaks(this year April 23rd). In addition to our regular fundraising,we are having an e-waste event at the Whole Foods in Valencia,CA for Autism Speaks April 2.
I would LOVE to see my fellow SGTers at these events,so PM me if you are interested. For those of you who cannot make it, I encourage you to go to
an event in your region OR purchase one of the Blue Lightbulbs for the Light It Up Blue for Autism Speaks April 1 (we got ours at Home Depot). Autism Speaks helps fund programs to help Families to cope with Autism at all age levels and helps to fund research. :)
Thanks for your Support!

I think it is important for everyone to be involved.....
20 years ago, when I was just learning about Autism, the rate of incidence was supposedly 1 in 10,000....
Now it is 1 in 110 children-1 in 70 boys :(

I would appreciate talking to you parents of older Aspies.
As puberty sets in, I am deeply worried about even the idea of my son and dating. I really need some input. Thanks.

Yeah, we've had a drama about girls here.....Not sure if every parent goes through this stuff, but what do you do when they won't listen-neurotypical or not? Problem is trying to let them learn to be independent while preventing
the pitfalls. Some need their young adults with Autism to go to a group home situation to provide more structure and less opportunity to mess up. Keeping our son at home for now, but evaluating things for the future

The drama isn't limited to kids with Aspy. And the drama isn't limited to dealing with opposite sex issues. Our little darling cost me about $2000 last year to resolve a issue that normal kids would have grown out of.DisneyMom wrote:Eeeeeeep!

Don't be fooled by appearances. In Hawaii, some of the most powerful people look like bums and stuntmen.

Paraphrasing O&S, "He's just a [boy] who [won't] hear, 'No'''
Normal guys are bad enough but he can smother you just hugging you, can't imagine what it's going to happen when he experiences the good stuff. My other sons were bad enough (non-Aspy).
I think Lurch said it best, "Urrrrrrrrrr"
