At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

I bought the first 3 seasons of Sliders, and in season 3 there is a show about a theme park. Sherlock Holmes type story. in the new employee seminar, a manager says his name, and his charactors name, and says, In front of the guests, you will always stay in charactor and address me by my charactor's name. Everything you do will be as your charactor. You will Never Ever break charactor in front of the guests, no matter what, or you will be terminated.
if only disney was like this. you can get a disney charactor to break charactor sometimes, mostly just a live face charactor thou. a lot of them are really pros thou too.

Captain Hook once indicated to me that he liked my They Might Be Giants shirt. But I just took it to mean that Captain Hook liked TMBG (what pirate wouldn't?) not that there was some mysterious person inside a costume that liked the band. Is that breaking character or not?

The OP has picked up the first three seasons of the science fiction series "Sliders". This series had the main characters traveling to alternate versions of Earth, trying to find their way back to their Earth.
In one of the episodes in the third season, they visited a fictional theme park, which allowed guests to play out a role in a variety of settings, in order to combat stress. In a scene showing new workers getting their orientation, the manager first gives his real name, then says the name of the character he plays "on stage", and tells the new workers to only use the character name when addressing him on-stage, and that breaking character was cause for termination.
The OP, if I read this correctly, liked the idea of having each person who is on-stage at Disney having a "character" they play.

I mentioned sliders on one board and someone asked how they get the little pickles to stick on them.PatchOBlack wrote:I will attempt to translate! :cat1:

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

I now do call center/tech support.
I will regularly have Southern California customers ask me if I ever worked as a Disney cast member.
