Too bad you can't run your class like the military. I worked with a guy who had been a crew chief on B-52s in the Air Force. He was also black. He had a new mechanic transferred in and as soon as the mechanic saw him blurted out, "I ain't workin' for no n*****!"

The mechanic was asked to repeat his philosophical objections to management to the aircraft commander which he was more than happy to do.

BAM!! Thirty days in the stockade. When he came back he was colorblind.

Should have kept him and ignored him. If he is going to ignore all of your directions, he obviously isn't going to learn anything in the class. So he isn't going to get a passing grade. When asked about why you failed him you can make the simple statement that he didn't do the work so he doesn't get the grade.

Now granted that you will have to deal with him in class, but that is when you shove him into a corner of the room and ignore him. If he acts up and disrupts the rest of the class, there are other options available.

Personally, I think a better option would be, if the student refused to accept the teacher's authority, then the parents should be called in, and given the following option: Inform the student that he will have to follow the teacher's instructions, no matter what the teacher's gender is, or they have they have to find alternative schooling for their child.
