I miss the skyway. I know they were slow loading but I really liked the bird's eye view of the park and it was a nice place to relax....well as long as you didn't ride it with an idiot who forgot to tell you they were afraid of heights!

That could be fun!

"We must be a thousand feet in the air!"

"Did you know the Matterhorn is 10,000 feet high?"

"Those people down there look look like ants."

"Security will throw you out of the park if you puke."

Or:

OMG, did you hear that sound?

Does that cable look frayed to you?

Did you hear about the CM that fell out of one of these?

I've been on these before and I don't remember it being so shaky when it went over the pylons.

I wonder when the last time any maintenance was done on this?

While waiting for the Eiffel Tower elevator to start I overheard a couple bad mouthing the French. I'm not a real fan of the French but their comments were way over the line. About a third of the way up (it's about 1,000 feet high) the woman starts to freak out as the elevator sides are glass and you can see the brown painted structural steel.

Seeing an opportunity, I started pointing out all the corrosion (brown paint) and wondered if the tower might fall over while we were on the observation deck. Another guy chimed in that it was a very windy day. By the time we got to the top she had a death grip on the rail and would not leave the car.

They rode right back down and probably ran for their lives when they got back to terra firma. Too bad. It was a beautiful day and the view was incredible.

Yeah, he was a custodial CM and he unfortunately lost his life. :( The attraction CMs didn't see him cleaning and started up the attraction. Happened in WDW in 1999.

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.

Hobie, that was an evil thing to do. And down-right funny! :cat1:

Well, you missed the intent of that and the other ones I posted, they were what to say to someone that had a fear of riding in the gondola. Sick sense of humor true, but not really meant to be connected with the real thing.

But also to be more accurate, the custodian didn't fall out of the gondola, he was hit by one while standing near the edge of the loading platform and was knocked off acquiring terminal injuries.

Hobie, things like that are just one more reason to love having you around here. One of these days, I have to drag Zazu to Disneyland and have you there at the same time. I would love to see what you guys would do to the SG's, and the stories you would tell. Especially if I got both of you drinking and trying to outdo each other.

The problem with either of you telling tall tales is that the true ones are much more impressive.
