VM (not quite) Live from Philly!

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Not sure how we'll safely do the helicopter inside, but okay. Sounds good to me.
I love the color capture on that camera. And, if we decide to do the concert underwater, we'll be covered!

As do I. So we are up to two... make that three helicams.
The Vocal Majority will be keeping the high-energy style, even if only to avoid being hit. One of the helicopter guys I know likes to get close.

We can use him for the closeups of guys like Wombat who are tall and on the back riser.Big Wallaby wrote:As do I. So we are up to two... make that three helicams.

I'll probably be riding in the helicopter outside, just for the fun of it!

So whenever I hear a loud whirring noise I should duck?ktulu wrote:We can use him for the closeups of guys like Wombat who are tall and on the back riser.

While we're talking about videoing the chorus, someone once filmed a documentary about the barbershop chorus competition, actually focusing on the Vocal Majority over a couple of years. The documentary, Voices, is 15 years old now so you may have to do some inter-library searches to find it (I did!), but it's a lot of fun, very entertaining and dramatic.

Realistically, I think we could do this with a 6 (maybe 8) camera setup
2 wide cameras, not centered, but from the right and the left
1 NFL-style flyover camera
1 remote control helicopter
1 helmet cam or baton cam for the director
1 camera behind the back row, for over the shoulder shots or for a closeup of the director.
add in a possible overhead camera hung from the lighting grid, and a remote controlled mini-blimp cam, and I think we've got all angles covered.
(why am I the first one on this thread to think about hanging a camera from the lighting grid?)

I want to watch the monitor for the back row camera. That'll be the one that picks up the collision between the helicopter and the flyover cam. :D:

I don't know how many times we'll be able to go to the baton cam before viewers get sick.
And I like more cameras than are ever necessary. Four helicopters minimum, one 125' boom, three other closer booms, The NFL-style flyover (I can understand why we don't have that one duplicated), fourteen handhelds, seven steady cameras all around the auditorium.
It will be the most epic choral video ever.

I just assumed there would be five or six generators involved.
Now we need to discuss the lighting and pyro.
