Our pre-Christmas trip

Post by I am Sam » Tue Jan 11, 2011 5:15 am

We went to "the world" Dec. 17-23 with my four nieces and nephews (aged 3, 3, 4, and 6), my best friend, her sister, my 2 brother-in-laws, my mother-in-law, husband, 2 of my sisters, my sister's fiancé, my father, my step mother, and my brother. We saw the best of people and of course the worse.

The bad

1. At Crystal Palace on Dec. 19 right before the Christmas party we were eating when I notice that the people next to us are changing the stinky diaper of a two year girl on the table in the restaurant. I am the type of person who gags at the smell of bodily waste. I said rather loud that if I (a C5 quadriplegic) could change that baby in a bathroom than everyone should be able. They also were on the dinning plan and left zero tip just the dirty diaper. I over heard the mother talking about the bill and they didn't have to leave one.

2. I witnessed a good twenty kids being shoved on rides crying and scared. Now we did get my uneasy 10 year old sister on Rock n Rollercoaster. But I talked her threw the entire ride before we got on it. And I just asked her to trust me that she'd be ok.

3. I saw dads encouraging their sons to beat the characters up. Telling them to "ball tap" them to see if Mickey is a boy or not.

The good

1. My family uses a VIP tour guide when we go to Disney. Both of our tour guides were amazing with the kids and with us. My niece will not willing let men pick her up not even grandpa or the uncles. Tom she went right to. She actually went to him over her mommy. Our other tour guide used his umbrella to sword fight with my 6 year old nephew after he had been to pirates league and marketing saw them and took pictures that might be used in a print ad.

2. Thank you to the man that helped my nephew start the parade (yes the 3 o' clock parade) on Sat. Dec. 18, 2010. It was the highlight of the day for him. In fact we had to go see Mickey to tell him that he started the parade for him.

3. Thank you to the Jack Sparrow that went threw the pirates league on Sat Dec. 18 at 12:30pm. The meet and greet you gave my nephews was the talk of the trip. The 6 year old took the picture of you two to school for his what did you do Christmas break report. All the little boys were so jealous.

4. Thank you to the Patch that took us out the same day for the pirates and pals cruise. The fog was so bad we only saw two fireworks and by that I mean we could guess what color it was. He entertained us wonderfully. If anyone knows him I was the red head in the wheelchair who blew $250 at bippity boppity boutique.

5. And lastly thank you to the character handler and the 7 dwarves at MK during the Christmas party. We were the last visitors before the second Christmas parade. It was only my best friend, niece, tour guide and myself. They played peek a boo with the little one ( who had woken up ready to go from her 7-9 pm nap), danced with my best friend, and were impressed that I knew who each dwarf was. One of the buckets fell over and a gem fell out and they gave it to my niece. She called it her dwarf diamond. They even asked if we could be in the parade.

The ugly

1. We had only one bad experience with a CM the whole trip. My tour guide had gotten gold tickets for my husband and I to see the candlelight processional. We are both in power wheelchairs and cannot transfer. All which was reported when we made the reservation and that we wanted to sit together (it was the only alone time my husband and I had all trip). When we got there the staff had given away our reserved seats to a party with two wheelchairs that were rented from Disney that the kids kept rotating to sit on. Instead of center close to the stage our seats were far left at the top of the tier. Our tour guide was so upset he had to walk off stage. I even asked the family if there was anyway they could transfer to the bench so my husband and I could sit there and so could their family. Nope was their answer.

Awesome. Eddie always does that along with many other magical moments.

I don't understand how any guy who is producing any level of testosterone can possibly want to see that happen to another guy. When I see that, I find myself in pain just seeing it.

My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

There are no problems, just opportunities.
