I understand the reason Epcot Station has such a unique design and so large is it was intended to be expanded and used as a hub for future monorail extensions. Epcot is nearly the center of property so it would make sense to expand from there.Big Wallaby wrote:Just don't take the most direct route from TTC to AK. Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

That would lead past the sewage and trash facilities would it not ?Big Wallaby wrote:Just don't take the most direct route from TTC to AK. That could have... consequences, such as constant guest complaints.

Yup, that I am. Still active. In fact, I spent the past weekend at Prototype Rails in Cocoa Beach. Friend there was showing off his new On30 locomotives. Direct radio control, battery-powered. Had a small layout with no wiring, no gaps, he even left a quarter across the rails all weekend. Could have made the rails from Plastruct!CBeilby wrote:I think Zazu's a Model Railroader as well. Oh, and are you going to be able to be at the Model Railroad Show coming up on the 22 and 23rd?
I think this is the future of DCC!

From Epcot, if you added a curve and didn't take any direct route through the park, you would probably be okay. You'd just have to go around Coronado Springs. I can't see a Monorail looking right there.Shorty82 wrote:Epcot is nearly the center of property so it would make sense to expand from there.
And I think it's high time we put that resort at Pylon 15 on the MK loop. There was originally supposed to be a resort there with a stop. That would make so many things so much simpler.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?
Re: My Trains! (lots-o pics)
Ahhh, the "dark" side of model railroading. :p: I've heard a lot of talk about R/Cing model trains. A lot of people do it, and it seems really cool! Some people don't like it, and say DCC is the only "real" way to do that. I don't even have DCC at this point, but the idea is neat. I just don't have the money for DCC. But R/Cing might be a better method overall. I've been looking into it.Zazu wrote:Yup, that I am. Still active. In fact, I spent the past weekend at Prototype Rails in Cocoa Beach. Sorry about the blurry photos. I don't have a Macro mode on my camera, unfortunately.
First, the Super Chief:

F7A/B consist in the classic War Bonner paint scheme. I only have one set of these, and need to get another for a full consist of the Super Chief.

Baggage-Express Car

RPO (Rolling Post Office) Car

10-6 Pullman Sleeper Cars

4-4-2 Pullman Sleeper Cars.

Diner Car

Super Chief Dorm-Lounge Car

Sleeper-Lounge Car. If the second pic weren't so blurry, you could see the drumhead sign on the back. All but four of the cars are lighted (I need to get more light kits.) Also, the Dome car is currently misplaced, but I hope to find it soon. I won't be doing much weathering on these, as the Super Chief, like all the luxury streamliners during this era, were kept practically immaculate even when in operation.
Maintenance of Way Equipment

Crane and Crane Tender. This was originally painted as a Union Pacific MoW Crane. I repainted this, with all the markings being Micro-Scale wet transfer decals.

Waycars (ATSF Cabeese)

Kato Waycar in Boxcar Red

Later Model Waycars. These have identical road numbers, so I'm going to have to renumber one of them before weathering them. Also, I need to replace three of the couplers, as they've got Rapidos instead of Kaytee couplers.
Rolling Stock

Boxcars of the mid 1950s. As was common for Santa Fe Boxcars of the time, they have ads for the ATSF Passenger Trains of the era, one of these specifically for the Super Chief. As with the later model Waycars, these also have identical road numbers.

Santa Fe Bulk Fruit Express ice-cooled Reefer car. I'll be getting a number of these for club operation as well, as my first module is going to model orange harvesting, a fruit packing plant, and an ice plant and icing station.
Locomotives

Fairbanks-Morse H16-44 Diesel Road Switcher

Straight stack, coal fired Baldwin 2-6-0 "Mogul," probably one of the last ones built in the 1920s.

An American Locomotive Works 4-8-4 "Northern," one of the last workhorses of the age of Steam. This model is actually not well detailed, so I want to do a bit of work on it (modeling the telescoping stack, and covering up a screw that's on top of the boiler.)
I hope to add DCC to all these locomotives, as well as the
F7s, although it may be problematic for the two Steam locos

Ok I love model trains but I am not familiar with the lingo. What does DCC mean?
I suppose I should just call my friend who has an extensive LGB garden layout in his backyard and ask him. (One of the LGB trains he is the LGB model of Ward Kimball's Grizzley Flats-jealous!). He other trains too-but the garden layout is quite impressive.
He also took the toy Disney train that the parks sell and modified with an LGB engine-something I hope to do if I ever get enough space for the set! :(
