I'm a bit of a railfan myself. I would love to be able to do a layout, but lack of time, space, and money keep that from happening. Well, I have space, just not the approval ;)

Have you checked out burnsland? http://www.burnsland.com/disneyrailroads/

I had to abandon it for several months when I had surgery and couldn't sit at the computer for any length of time, and it's been hard to get back into it -- I had just figured out how to build functional monorail stations, but hadn't done it repeatedly enough to retain the info, so I'd have to relearn it. Plus I reached the point where I'd made almost every structure for which I had easy access to various point-of-view photography, so the going was slower. And, like anything else, a busy schedule and other activities took priority.

I'd like to finish it someday, but then, like Walt Disney World, it would never really be finished. I'd want to add in new buildings and such forever. (In fact, the last thing I was working on was the BLT -- all I have in its location now is a few construction cranes, which is how it looked on my last trip!)

You could do the optimized layout, adding the fourth route to link the TTC with AKL, AK, HS, and the World Showcase station!

Freak, thank you for the beautiful pictures. The shot of the Goose at Knott's, I know the engineer in the picture, but forgot his name. He worked there when I was there.

Just don't take the most direct route from TTC to AK. That could have... consequences, such as constant guest complaints.

No problem. I just posted another thread today, it turns out Bud Hurlbut, the man behind Log Ride and Mine Ride, has passed away.

I am very sad right now. He is a great man, and his work is honestly one of the biggest reasons I got into model railroading, so I could model his locomotives from Mine Ride. :(

I'm going to continue, but this bums me out SO much. RIP Bud. You will be missed sir, you will be missed.

Now you have a greater reason to create this set: In remembrance.

I can't wait to see what all you do with it.

^ Yep yep! I need to get my other porters out of storage and refine their paintjobs like I'm doing with #5 right now.

I'm currently re-thinking my layout though. I think I need more room! Silly me just bought another On30 locomotive:
Image
Its an outside frame 4-4-0. I like the outside frame, I wanted my Forney to have a friend! Now the reason I bought this one is because at Disney, we have our 4-4-0s, and I wanted a locomotive that represented my time @ Disney. It was between this one and another 4-4-0:
Image
For some reason, this train just looked too gaudy. And I've been told this locomotive is very scrawny, where the outside framed 4-4-0 is a little beefier. Plus I like the green boiler jacket. Anyways this 4-4-0 will be numbered as #8, and will share duty with #7. And #7 is currently undergoing some more paint work and I'm looking at a diamond smokestack for her as well. I'll post pictures when progress on that shows up.

I promised photos of Mine Ride #5, but I'm still playing around with cleaning it up/adding paint details. I should have some photos Tuesday.

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.
