Well, let's see....

The Good: Got a check for $25 from my brother, as well as a card from my stepmom, both a nice surprise. Plus, for the first time in several years, I was able to display my kitty nativity set. Unfortunately, I can no longer find the company that made it online. A company with a similar name hasn't been in business long enough for it to be the maker of my set, and the only other one was more like someone's personal page. Oh, and my friend who took care of Tripod gave me a big gift basket she put together herself--all that's left of the goodies is a dill dip set and a bottle of sparkling red grape juice.

The Bad: Injured my left big toe a couple weeks ago, and it's taking its sweet time healing. Then my hips started to gang up on me. Started taking glucosamine/chondroitin from Trader Joe's. I bought a 10 pound ham for Christmas and heated it, hoping it would get eaten, but here it is three days after Christmas, and it's barely half eaten. My roomies get all excited about my doing something like this, and then hardly eat any of it. Yeah, I know they went to see theire families, but come on!

The Ugly: One of my roommates tried to kill herself with booze and pills, but ralphed it up all over herself and her bed--thankfully I was out of the house at the time. I last saw her on Sunday, when she said she wanted to go to Laguna Beach to help a friend shovel mud from her house, etc. from mudslides. Today her newest boyfriend came to the door, saying he hasn't heard from her, and that she might make another try. A couple of my roomies said they tried to call her to let her know they had a gift and card for her--it's her birthday today--but the call went straight to voicemail.

This does not look good. He said he was going to check the hospitals.

Freeze Ham after slicing off what can be used for sandwiches. Thaw out and use for 15 bean soup later ;)

Sorry about all the drama.Hope your roomie is ok,but don't expect it to ever be calm with her-does Isaiah house have counselors involved?

The Matterhorn family flew to Tennessee in October to celebrate our son's thirtieth birthday, and to welcome Catherine Grace to the family. I was there again for Thanksgiving, and my son deep-fried a turkey! It was awesome! They have snow there now and are enjoying their new sleds.

For Christmas, my daughter and her family came here for Christmas Eve, DH and I split the rest of our time between his family and mine. On Thursday I will fly to Sacramento for my niece's wedding on 1/1/11. That's....pretty cool!

Bru, I hope your daughter will see the big mistake she is making. I will pray for wisdom for her.

May you all have a fantasmic 2011!

Ms. Matt

thanks for the kind words about my caterwauling, ya'll. Much appreciated.

I should post up some Disney type singing at some point maybe...did I tell you guys I tried the AI Experience while I was at WDW in July? It was a BLAST. They treated you like gold, the CMs were so awesome. Fun, fun FUN!!! The two auditions were nervewracking but it was so worth it!

On a serious topic- Felinefan I'm so sorry to hear about your roommate. She must be in a great deal of pain :( I will keep her in my thoughts and hope she'll be okay, I hope it's not too late for her to find the help she needs. It's a very long road back from feeling that bad...

Thanks Ms.Matt I'll take all the thoughts/hopes/wishes and such I can get.

After she got home I asked her if she'd felt funny not having any of the little traditions we have established and she said "No, not really." and I could tell she meant it :( Very rough weekend for me- glad it's over.

On a happier note- I finally sat down tonight and painted that MK painting I've been wanting to do...showing here.
it's the mate to the Epcot one I did earlier this year. Hope you all like it.

There's some other new stuff up there too I should prolly have linked it to the old thread...

My roomie was in the hospital undergoing detox for the last couple of days. She came home last night. She's a total alcoholic and a person who has a very loose grip on truth--as in, if you say anything about her, she turns around and says basically the same thing about others. So far I haven't been made aware of her saying anything bad about me. She says she's been in psych several times and they say there's nothing wrong with her. Yeah, right.

So far, the hips have been behaving lately, but this morning I ran a couple of errands in the rain, stepped in a puddle, and my poor sprained toe started to hurt from the cold water. I finally got my buckwheat pillow out of my storage, but I don't remember if it goes in the micro for 1 minute or 3. Well, I guess I'll start at 1 minute, and increase it until I get it comfortably warm for my toe. Bruising has disappeared but it's still swollen.

Yeah, I was thinking of making ham and bean soup for New Year's, but dang it, at Thanksgiving and Christmas hardly any of the food got ate, though I was praised for cooking. Some of my roomies are still going next door to eat. Hopefully, we'll all stay for New Year's. I mean, we get so much food donated to us, it's crazy. Plus a few of us have food stamps, myself included. So, we're in no danger of starving. Heck, we have some canned goods that are labeled with use by dates to 2014!

Sure have, Dragonfox, once again my SGT buddies come through with some pixie dust when my spirits are sagging. Mostly now I'm counting down to seeing the next new surgeon (on the 10th, been waiting awhile...but that's the way it works at the U, takes forever to get in with the good guys!) hopefully he's going to finally be the one who will be able to fix the internal works of my face!

Thanks again everyone, and Happy New Year! I hope 2011 brings health happiness and good surprises to everybody here.

xoxo

Hah, well. Now that the season has ended, I don't have to worry about being up so early to go to work. I hope everyone had a great Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Festivus and a great New Year too!

I worked on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, as well as New Years Eve and New Years Day. I had a pretty good Christmas even though it was early in the morning (earlier than I wanted to be up! :P) at 6-7 AM so we could all unwrap gifts, but it was still fun. I didn't get a whole lot (light Christmas this year) but I got some memorable things. I got some nice warm jackets, and a Kinect for the 360 so I can play inside on a rainy day. :P:

New Years I didn't do as much, didn't want to get sick or anything and miss work (even though everyone else didn't share the same idea :p :) , but it was still fun. I still stayed up till 12am and watched Dick Clark's Rockin' New Year's Eve. I figure as long as you had a good time and didn't get into (too much) trouble, it was a good time. :D:

And Zazu, that menu of what you had sounds AMAZING! (Well, except for wine. For some reason I don't enjoy drinking alcohol.. :\ weird.) It makes me want to learn how to cook!

RIP Bud Hurlbut.

You will be missed.
