Could be ktrex, however guests don't actually always know when CMs call Security. I call in a quite way & sometimes from my own cell. (backstake call) If a PCO arrives first a guest wouldn't know PCO is Security.ktrex wrote:In my (albeit limited) experience working at the mouse, I think the reason you don't see much calling of security is that most situations (which are usually few and far between anyways) can be taken care of easily by the CM themselves.

Re: Do CMs ever, ever call security?
Years ago, I was selling glow on OT, and a slightly drunk man took up a position next to me and began talking to me, and making comments to me about guests I was selling to. It became too much, and I went over to the shop and had them call the Mouse Police. Who came and coaxed this guy away from me. I didn't not feel in danger, but it was disruptive to my operation, and I did not want other guest to overhear his comments and be offended.
More recently, I had been told that a guest touched a Mexico CM in anger, and I told this girl that assault (which this was) was not tolerated and she should have called security. An attractions CM was there, and took this to heart.
Later that week, he had an encounter with a guest in the boat ride. I forget what it was about, but it harldy matters. It escalated, and he called security. They showed up with a manager, and I seem to recall Park Duty was there as well. The guy's demeanor changed in the blink of an eye, I'm told. ;)

Hmmm, when I worked in Fantasyland, I've seen many locks cut but I've never seen them cut a stroller.BRWombat wrote:I recall previous posts here on SGT where someone said it's a lot easier for CM's to cut through the stroller itself than the lock -- so ofter SG's will return to find their lock still fastened and the stroller gone! Love it. :D:
I only called once while at Disney, and that was when somebody came up the exit and parked themselves on my ride resulting in not having enough seats for the guests who were preloaded. They then refused to remove themselves from the ride and my partner and I called security.
I have had to call at the park I work at now for guests who aren't displaying safe behavior- but this is after multiple warnings.

I've called quite a few times, but of course can't really say why for major cases. I've called a few times for lost children also.

Just to reassure my fading memory, I searched for the original post I was thinking of. Here it is. Turns out it was a one-time thing rather than a standard practice, but still a great story -- and of course it's from the mighty Zazu.EeyoresButterfly wrote:Hmmm, when I worked in Fantasyland, I've seen many locks cut but I've never seen them cut a stroller. ....BRWombat wrote:I recall previous posts here on SGT where someone said it's a lot easier for CM's to cut through the stroller itself than the lock -- so ofter SG's will return to find their lock still fastened and the stroller gone! Uhh hold on....cutting the stroller happens regularly! If the chain is heftier than the stroller struts, well there they go. Otherwise we cut the chain.BRWombat wrote:Just to reassure my fading memory, I searched for the original post I was thinking of. Here it is. How long has this been going on? I never saw it happen when I was in Fantaslyand. I don't think that I like that we are destroying their strollers. Cut the chain or lock absolutely, but not somebody's stroller. Thsoe are very expensive. Most guests aren't being malicious when they do it.

Problem is, if they are in a place where they cut any traffic flow, that can be a danger in the long run. If there were a Signal 25, I would much rather that lock and/or stroller had been cut long ago, than that area become a death trap for even one child. It's amazing how quickly we could evacuate the guests from an area that proves to be dangerous, but not if there are things in the way.
My opinions are mine and mine only. If my opinions are the opinion of others who happen to share whatever my crazy views may be, then fine, but it's not because I represent them in having my opinions. Got it?

When working PAC, if I find a stroller deserted in a walkway, I ask if it is anyones, which it never is, and then start walking it far, far away. Generally someone comes running up to me admitting its their stroller and they park it properly.Big Wallaby wrote:Problem is, if they are in a place where they cut any traffic flow, that can be a danger in the long run. Re: Do CMs ever, ever call security?
I've never had to call about a stroller locked to something though I have stopped a guest from locking their stroller to a railing before. I was working stroller hell in the old Skyway parking area and directed a guest to a specific spot (as is done there when it is busy to help keep the lot straight as there are so many strollers) who said they wanted to park by the wall so they could lock the stroller to the railing. I explained that, for safety, strollers can not be locked to anything as CMs need to be able to move them if necessary but they were welcome to lock the back wheels together as while that makes the stroller hard to steal it can still be moved by a CM if need-be. They were okay with that but if they had insisted on locking to the railing I would have called Maintenance to have them come out and cut the lock/stroller as soon as the guests had left the lot.
Another time I was working either Unload or Wheelchair Assist at IASW when I found a wheelchair locked to the railing. Neither I nor the other CM on the dock (at the other position) noticed the guest locking the chair or we would have said something. We didn't call Maintenance as we knew the guest would be coming off the ride in a few minutes. When they did come off we explained to them that they can't lock the chair to anything as we have to be able to move chairs around to make room and for safety.
