I saw this a week or so ago, very cool. Cars 2 next year, Cars Land in 2012, lots of cool things happening for a movie that was not as big of a blockbuster hit as other Pixar movies, but has a heck of a merchandising run going!

Okay. Cars 1 had a pretty okay storyline and all. But this one seems to be a bit more uh...confusing.

Its really pretty simple. McQueen is participating in the the world grand prix. That is why they are in Europe in the first place. Then the plot unfolds from there.

I don't care what any of the haters say, I loved Cars and I'm really excited for Cars 2.
(As well as Cars Land opening in DCA in 2012!) :D:

To be perfectly honest, I've known about this trailer for quite some time, but I was apprehensive to post it here because I was worried that it would get nothing but hate.

I gave up long ago on trying to predict whether I'd like a Pixar movie because of its trailers. Frankly, none of them ever really make me think their movie will be worthwhile, with the possible exception of WALL-E. I think that's because the true magic of their films is in the characters and storytelling, and there's no way to give a decent sense of that in a 2-3 minute trailer. (Hence the WALL-E exception -- the trailers were all about his character.)

I was starting to realize this when the first Cars trailers came out; nothing about the ads appealed to me (like I want to spend a couple of hours in a movie theater watching cars talk to each other?), but since it was Pixar, I went to see it. And Cars turned out to be maybe my favorite Pixar film so far, or at least tied with Toy Story 2.

And so it is with this trailer... the story takes the characters from the small-town charm of Radiator Springs -- the pivotal setting of the first movie -- and puts them in Europe? And into a spy action-adventure plot? I'm dubious at best. (Yeah, it looks good, but that's a given with Pixar anyway.) But will I see it? Shoot, yeah! I don't know how it'll compare to the first Cars, but Pixar has already proven that they can avoid the usual "sequel curse" (that sequels can never be as good as the original), and that they are all about the characters and storytelling, not churning out a slapdash product for quick cash. So bring it on!

I gotta admit I did the same thing with The Incredibles. Saw the teasers and the super-hero comic book storyline, and it just didn't interest me. Finally broke down and borrowed a cow-workers and I was hooked. Love the movie (and got a big "Told ya so" from the wife).

I was a little worried with Cars 2, as I heard there was an issue with the story and John Lasseter dropped everything and headed back to Emeryville. I think all will be well and Cars 2 will be awesome!

It is also my favorite, and also the bane of my wife's existence since I decided I need to collect the toys, but just the die cast ones from Mattel. I managed to hit the jackpot on a couple trips to VA at the same Toys R Us

The original Cars was a rip-off of Doc Hollywood.

I went to see Cars expecting not to like it and was very pleasantly surprised. Cars 2 looks rather cool actually.

But why do cars need to go to the bathroom? And, um, what anatomical differences do male and female cars have that require separate bathrooms and privacy? And how are baby cars manufactured in the Cars universe anyway?

(Rule 34 says that I could find this all out with a simple internet search, and yet I am truly loathe to do so).

Ah well, back to suspending my disbelief.
