Doctor McKey Will Not....

Post by Doctor McKey » Mon Nov 22, 2010 5:34 pm

No... I am not dead.. but my career at Disney is.

Last March, I suffered from a sever case of Carpel Tunnel Syndrome due to work related activities. The CTS was so bad that nerve communication between my hands and elbows on both hands was unreadable by the doctors.

As a result of my Doctors choice to return me back to work post surgery, knowing the types of work i did, i was continually in pain and took to much time off. The result of which was my termination from the company, that I so loved, in August. As a result of a work related incident, I was advised I was damaged goods by the union and Disney will avoid me for employment like i had the plague...

At the unions behest, I seeked an attorney to secure money for my medical needs for the next little while. As part of the settlement, I must forever relinquish any employment or reemployment with the company for ever.

Though this saddens me, I understand that the Company must make decisions that support a magical environment for their guests and an employee that could not be at 100% could make the magic slip away for some.

Ill be around here lurking and staying in the Orlando area... And if anyone knows of any jobs that are open.. and get me in... I can help spread the Disney Magic else where...

Oh, Doc.

I am so, so, so sorry.

Every time the Company loses someone with the magic like you have it, a fairy weeps...this one, in particular.

It's a loss for everyone- but so much more so for someone who loved the company as you have. I hope that you can find work that feeds your soul, and that someday we might still get to take in that parade that you and Wallaby owe me...(I'm not letting you off the hook that easily!)

You know I understand what it does to a soul when your health stops you from doing what you love (or in my case takes your ability to earn a livelihood away altogether whether you liked the job or not.) If you need an ear, you know where to holler to me. I hope that there can be healing for you in every way possible as you go forward.

huge hugs, you'll be in my thoughts.

It's too bad Disney couldn't find a position that didn't require much use of your hands.

I'm with Hobie. The Mouse should have found you another position in their VAST array of jobs so they could keep someone like you. Definitly their loss. Hope something else comes your way really soon.

Doc, I am so sorry to hear the news. I'm sure you will find something soon. I do agree with Techie, you'd think with as many positions as Disney has available, they could have found you something. I'll be praying for you.

You know, when I hear stories like this, I begin to wonder if the company is less about the Mouse, and more Uncle Scrooge....

In any case, best wishes to you for your future, Doctor McKey. I really hope things turn up for you.

Actually it's mostly about money.
