Stolen from the MK?

Post by Saint March » Mon Nov 15, 2010 8:46 pm

Ok, here is a strange question. Has anything of signifigance ever been stolen from the Magic Kingdom? Or for that matter Epcot or HS? Now, I'm not talking a camera or a shoplifted tinkerbell figurine. I mean something serious. Something permanent. Like a statue of buzz lightyear or a large sign or part of an attraction.

Perhaps something from a hotel as well. Not a towel or a lamp. Thing big. Something not easily replaced. Like a topiary or part of the water parade.......

I once saw some in-house costumes on Ebay.
the person even got nice closeup photos of the wardrobe tags too.

Snow White's apple gets stolen several times a day. And I have one.

Snow White's apple has been stolen before and I've heard of the IASW hula girl's skirts being stolen on Grad Nights (I'm not sure how they pull that one off without going for a swim).

People have also tried to steal Madame Leota's crystal ball in the Haunted Mansion. It got to be such a problem at WDW that I understand it will disappear into the ceiling if the intrusion alarm goes off. At least one person was seriously injured trying to steal it, they didn't realize there isn't a floor between the ride path and Madam Leota's area and fell quite a ways (there is now cargo netting in place to catch anybody stupid enough to jump the railing).

Around here, however, we don’t look backwards for very long.

We keep moving forward, opening up new doors and doing new things, because we're curious…
and curiosity keeps leading us down new paths.

I was forced to give back the Matterhorn, no charges were filed, it looked awesome that week it was in my backyard...
