Everyone needs a mental health break once in a while. I was working for a mainframe computer company putting in a lot of hours. I hit me one day that I had to leave or I'd probably just sit down in the middle of the data center and not move for a long time. I told my boss and he told me to wait in my cube. He came back ten minutes later and told me to go home and not come back for a week. No charge to vacation, don't answer the phone, don't call us.

I came back after a week and dove right back in. The break was great.

If it really gets bad use some mental floss.

So right hobie! I got up yesterday, fed the pups, ate, began to get ready - my usual. Suddenly I decided; the house is so peaceful & calm with all gone. Lots of left over goodies from July 4th party I didn't attend. My pups are hugable & great to chill with. After thinking it over twice ;) I called in & took a paid vacation day which gave me 3 days in a row off. Don't regret the 3 points at all.

"We were all kids once; only a few of us remember what it was like." I kid you not, apparently some people were born grown ups. Folks if your child is under the age of 6 they are ALLOWED TO BE SCARED when they see the characters. Hitting, forcing, and putting down their attitude makes you look like an @ss and someone who can't handle their own kids. The worst bullies that some children have are their own parents. How do you escape that? Because honestly the parenting I'm seeing today sucks and then us grown ups have the audacity to moan about how ungrateful they are. Really? Are you sure they are being ungrateful and not acting out the only way you showed them how to express themselves?

I used to give myself time outs all the time. As a matter of fact I still do and I not only do it in the house with the kids, I do it at work too. I've been know to let my managers know when I desperately need to get a break because I'm about to burst. We are human after all.

Wow, what a coincidence...I'm taking one today. Got up this morning and just couldn't face the day. So I'm here in my A/C'd house, playing on the computer and just plain chillin.

I worked the 4th of July. It was nice and peaceful until 3 pm. There was this mom that was mad at her daughter. Little girl about 5 years old. Mom kept on yelling and smacking the kid. I kept on wondering where security was? Next thing I see is a costodial lead come up and asked the mom if she needed some help finding something. The mom stop smacking her kid and walked away.

Don't smack you kids in public. You can possibly go to jail if someone reports you and if the authorities catch you. If the kids do have bruises that are visable, you are now in trouble. My friend is a school teacher and she did report abuse to the principal. The principal did call the police and talked to the child. The grandma just got custody of the grand child. The child's mom and dad were arrested for drug abuse and are in jail. The kid is doing fine. His older brothers and sisters now live with grandma and are doing fine. :)

I liked the scene in Kindergarten Cop where Arnold beats up the father who had beaten his kid. Arnold gets called on the carpet by the principal who wants to know how good it felt to kick the crap out of an a-hole who desperately needed it.

I know I've mentioned this in another thread, but watching parents drag screaming kids on to rides is my biggest pet peeve.

I've seen parents do the whole "don't be such a chicken" "grow up" among other things... it bothers me immensely about how parents can be such terrible bullies when their child gets scared.

Have I learned a thing or two about parenting by working at Disney??? Absolutely.

I wouldn't be too quick to stand in judgment of this type of behavior. Yes, some parents are just mean, however, many others know their children a lot better than you do. Sometimes they need to be pushed, sometimes hard, to experience new things. Watching other peoples children in isolated circumstances really doesn't make anyone an expert on child raising.

About 2 weeks ago I adopted a kitten from the City of Orange Animal Shelter.

He is now 11 weeks old. I am learning about kitty discipline (sp). My parents said get the spray in the pink can that will help kitty from scratching the furniture. Also, my dad gave me a spray bottle so I can spray kitty with water if he does something bad.

My chairs in the dinning room are now covered with beach towels. Kitty went on a scratching spree. Last week I had his nails clipped.

If think on vending carts, the cast members should have spray bottles. If the SG does something annoying, they should be sprayed. :)
