My parents did something similar to me for my birthday one year. They picked me up from school, blindfolded me, and took me to the airport and had me guessing until I knew where we were(on the drive there, it was pretty clear once we got there). I was then told that we were going to Sea World San Diego. I was happy about going, but I wasn't happy that I didn't have a chance to pack what I wanted and so had nothing to do in the downtime such as on the plane.delsdad wrote:My 7 year old was furious at us last December over a surprise trip. We left right from school on a Thursday and headed to the airport. We told her we were going to a party, but not where. She got more and more upset at us until we had to fill her in at the airport on our plans. I presented her with the party map (thanks to the kind Cm here who shall remain unnamed) .When she found out we were on our way to Mickeys Very Merry Christmas party, she was loughs that we didn't tell her beforehand. It took a couple of days for her to cool off! She wad upset that she had not been able to tell her friends she was going to be away, and they had made plans for something at recess
I had expected most kids would rather go to WDW than have recess at school !

At the old Disney Hyperion Studio, the screening room where animators would show animated scenes to Walt for his approval was small, with no ventilation or AC. Not only was it hot, but the animators were nervously awaiting Walt's reaction to their work. Thus, the room became known as the Sweatbox. Even after the Studio moved to Burbank and elegant screening rooms were offered to the staff, the moniker remained.
Now SGT has a sweatbox of our own. This is the place to find and post all entertaining topics such as video links, jokes, games, and the like. A general rule of thumb is that if the thread is meant to be informative (interesting news stories for example), or a topic for discussion (like setting up a park meet) then it should go in the Break Room, but if the intent is to entertain the masses then it's home is The Sweatbox. I'm sure there will be grey areas at times, so if you have doubt as to where a new thread should go, just use your best judgement and the SGT Staff will be glad to move it later if you guessed wrong.

Re: Unexpected Reactions
My son surprised us last week by joining us on our 3-day Disney cruise. We were in the terminal waiting to board the ship when he showed up with two of his sons. Surprised the heck out of me! We had his wife and one son with us as planned, but he decided to get his own reservation since none of them had been on a cruise before. My first thought was, "Oh good, the whole family is here." My second thought was, "I wasted all those Disney Vacation Club points on a 2-bedroom savanna view villa at Kidani for 3 nights while we're all away on a cruise!"

Bahahahaha it's like the little girl knew how to react early! Crying and screaming, all the while throwing away money!
