Disneyland Flag Retreat

Post by ktulu » Thu Nov 11, 2010 12:36 pm

If you have not seen Ernie in action, the Disney Parks Blog posted a video where you can see him in action! They even have guests talking about him!

You can also see how Magic Kingdom honors our Veterans by allowing them to hold the flag:

Ktulu, YOU ARE ONE OF A KIND!! First, A very Special Thank you from Ernie. He will absolutely be amazed when I print & Em this to him. Secondly, a very huge, sincere, warm Thank you from me. You are ALWAYS there! Appreciate your care & loyalty supporting Flag Retreat cause. I just saw large group of Marine Corps backstage & I know The USMC Band is to be here today. Ernie will shine. Being able to hand The American Flag to a deserving Veteran is still his dream. Hopefully we can get Sean to post pixs on his fb. :usflag: :memribbon : :salute:

Ernie did an awesome job at Flag Retreat last night. The hubby and I went to see it. They had the First Marine Corps Division Band from Camp Pendleton, and a huge crowd of people surrounding the flag pole, and a lot of Current and Past Cast Members from the military forces in Costume and in their military uniforms attending the ceremony. Some of them were up on the train station platform and moved down when invited to go to the flag pole. I could hear Ernie shout "Thank you for your service to our country."

Also in the crowd were several upper management sorts, and I got to meet George Kalogridis.

I'll tell Ernie myself when I can catch him backstage sometime :D

Alyssa is always @ Flag Retreat - as she should be. I think she took the day off, or she was going to. Using the steps @ RR depot was new this yr. Seemed to work out very well as there were more CM Veterans than ever. Yes, Ernie did salute both those around Flag Pole & those behind @ depot. Flag Retreat was packed & Ernie turned the ceremony gold. If anyone attended & has pix or vids PLEASE contact Ktulu or me. We would love to use them on DisneyLand Flag Retreat fb. Was a great Veteran's Day at DL! Thank You Ernie for giving us your best! Your loyalty to America, & her veterans.

I got to work flag retreat for the first time this weekend, but sadly they have cost cut over here too and eliminated the Dans and the Philharmonic on Fridays and Saturdays and replaced them with a speaker band.

Thanks for this info Kurt. Will pass it on. DL Band does not do Thurs. Flag Retreat. Speakers are used here too. Fri. & Sat. seems very odd days to cut special entertainment. Go figure.
