Hi everyone

Post by DDuckLover » Mon Nov 01, 2010 10:00 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm not sure if anyone remembers me or not, as I haven't been on the board in a very long time! I wasn't online much for the past year and had to go on medical leave at work because I was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer). But, I'm now in remission and happily, I've gone back to work on a restricted schedule, so I am at least partially making magic again. :)

I just wanted to say hi to everyone, I hope you're all doing well!

Welcome back DDucklover, and as many prayers, vibes, and positive thoughts to you as humanly possible on being Cancer Free. Purpura was diagnosed with Ovarian cancer just over a year ago as well, so she and I understand completely what you have been going through...

Oh no, I hate to hear that others are being affected too. :( It's just something you don't expect, it can come out of nowhere! I hope you are Purpura are doing well though? Or are things not so well? I am sending good thoughts!!!!

I consider myself very lucky. Chemo was awful, but it saved me. They thought they were going to have to amputate my leg, but I had a miracle surgeon that saved it. I have a knee and tibia replacement and a skin graft, along with permanent drop foot. So, I use a cane and a foot brace but I can WALK! So, that mixed with being in remission is amazing for me.

We are well. I recently had a procedure that took a lot of material out of the area where the cancer once was. It was sent to the Pathology department at Harvard Medical, and we haven't gotten results back on it yet. We're not sure if it is just endometrial tissue or scar tissue that was left behind after my surgery. I consider myself lucky too in the fact I was able to work during chemo, and had very little nausea. Other survivors of other sorts of cancers were there and were surprised I was working after my return from medical leave, losing hair and fully bald after the hubby shaved my head a little over 2 years ago.

Welcome back, and welcome to the ranks of we Survivors.

Best of all, we didn't have to appear on that stupid TV show to qualify!
