What a cutie. We've got 2 black lab mixes - one a lab/shepherd mix and on a lab/weimaraner mix. They are great dogs, smart and loving. Congrats to your family.

Adorable! Our adopted babies are the best ... One is 4 and one turned 15 this year. Adopted dogs always seem so appreciative.

Re: We adopted a dog!!!!!
Thanks, everyone! No, no yellow hound in honor of Pluto....I think the way everything worked out with Hannah was just meant to be. And, yes, her coat is shiny....and she's so soft!!! I love petting her, but my Siamese gets jealous. Mousefan, glad you brought someone into your home as well. MS, thank you for being so appreciative....Hannah needed a home and we are more than willing to give it for a long, long time - she even cheers for Kyle at his football games (great, big woofs).
Now, for some sad news: I found out Kate (my Siamese) has a tumor last Wednesday. Here's the problem: the surgery would cost more than my mortgage payment and because my hubby is disabled and we still haven't heard from SSA, we don't have the funds to help her. I feel absolutely awful. She is doing well now; it doesn't seem to bother her and she's still eating and drinking normally. I know what steps will need to be taken if the time comes, but it doesn't make it any easier. We rescued Kate from a horrible breeder (Kate was "useless" because she couldn't breed anymore; mean, evil woman). She has been a fantastic source of comfort to my husband over the last two years and she is wonderful loud and "mouthy". I will keep you all up to date.
Have a wonderful day, everyone!!!

Re: We adopted a dog!!!!!
Oh no - so sorry to hear about Kate. Is she an older cat? Dealing with medical problems in our furry friends is so frustrating, especially the high cost of surgery and aftercare. They can't tell us where or how much something hurts and we can only try to stay attuned to their behavior and help them out as best we can.
We've had rescued greyhounds over the last 10 years or so, and have lost 3 to various cancers. It's never easy deciding when it's time to relieve them of their suffering when nothing else works. Hopefully your Kate will live for a long time and provide you and your husband much comfort, as I'm sure you do for her.

Thanks, Whazzup. Kate is only 8 years old, relatively young for a Siamese (their normal lifespan is about 15-20 years). So, it's a devastating blow. I'm more worried for hubby than for me. I rescued Kate for him (he had to put down his cat of 18 years two years prior) and he uses her to ease his anxiety.

So sorry to hear about the tumor, and the money situation. We lost the dog I grew up with to a tumor, so I sympathize.
The best you can do is give her love an attention for the time she has left, while she still doesn't notice she has it.
