Nope, I work for the company who's slogan is "Get in the <blank>, <autostore>". <blank> is a part of the name. So I can't get into trouble with the company I won't post exactly who I work for and would appreciate nobody else posting it publically.

Overall I like the job but there are times it drives me up the wall. One's thing for sure, I won't work any retail position forever, especially not auto parts. Way to often we are shorthanded (especially on truck day) and super busy, a bad combination. Some days recently I've run around for most of the day trying to do what feels like 100 things at once because otherwise they won't get done and even worse cutomers would get mad.

How some people stay with the company in a retail position as a career is beyond me. I know people who's been with the company for many years, including one who's been there for 20 years.

It took me like forever to realize what you were talking about. Store name wise.
I dont understand how you could get into to trouble   It's not like you are telling how much you get paid or what their managers secret code is. Everyone knows how ppl try to get into a store before and after it is open and how phone lines work and how most stores tend to be shorthanded most of the time. Common retail stuff. If anything they would probably appreciate the free publicity. LOL
What you describe is what my BF goes thru as a manager at Advance. His store has been short a manager for over 3 months.

I guess I was being paranoid. I work for AutoZone.

Short a manager for three months? That's crazy! I'm surprised they haven't hired on a new manager or promoted from within. We're not short handed so much has not having enough hours to schedule people.

We have plenty of people but corporate won't give us enough hours to have enough people on at one time to do everything that needs to be done. I'm willing and need to work more but they can't work me more. All the stores in my area are in the same boat so I can't get more hours from them like I used to be able to.

Get in the zone, Vatozone! I like O'Reilly myself, but I do wonder into Vatozone from time to time. I don't think there is an advanced around here.

Sorry if you don't like it being called Vatozone, been calling it that so long I don't think my brain could tell my mouth to spit it out any other way :o:

They have....he quit after 2 days. There has been 6 1st asst. managers in 2 yrs. The last lull in managers lasted for more then 4 months.

My BF is a second asst and they wont promote him because (and here is the bull list) He isnt trained.--train him, duh. The new head manager doesnt know him well enuf, etc, etc. Bunch of horse puckys basically. Now they are giving him guff about his vacation. Iwill be calling someone if we wind up out 2000$ because they are too stupid to hire someone. The head mgr. said to him today if he(the head) had to choose between vaca and work he would choose to work. Must be nice to be able to afford to throw away 2 grand. The idiot has no wife or kids or any other bills and gets about double $$ what my BF does. The new head is whining because he wants 2 days in a row off. OH WELL< TOO BAD<SO SAD...Deal with it.

HEY SHORTY, want a job at Advance in PA??? I am actually trying to get the BF to transfer to FL. :D:

Sorry all, didnt mean to highjack the thread. I have had a BAAAAAADDD day. Between the job stuff I also had to deal with my mother, who doesnt want to me speak to my cousin (I am switzerland, I do not get involved) and the heat and my 4 yr old who decided that she wanted to make her own egg while I was in the bathroom. Needless to say I had to clean out the whole fridge and the floor where it was originally broke before being stuck back in the fridge dripping out of the shell. EWWW...I hate to clean up raw egg. Now I am whining. sorry

Sounds like it's time to freshen up the resume. Get him out on interviews, close the deal on a new job, give minimum notice, and take vacation on the break between jobs.

I worked for a company where the attitude of multiple manager's was, "We know you know what you're doing and you're out there doing business. Just give us a call once in a while and let us know where in the world you are." I got a new manager who, in my first week with her, was screaming at me for spending $10 on a software upgrade. it went down hill from there.

I interviewed and got hired at a new company. I gave two weeks notice on Monday but told them I'd only be there until Wednesday as I was leaving for Hawaii on Thursday. I heard she had a lot of explaining to do to senior management. I'm sure she lied through her rotten teeth.

Oh yeah, she lived under the porch.

I work in liquor retail. You wanna talk about fun. There are usually 3-5 cars in the parking lot at 8:45am....and we open at 9. If you need your booze that bad that early, I think detox is in your future. The boss has told me that we can lock up between five and ten of eleven at night. I usually do it aroun 10:55. My biggest peeve is when it is actually 11pm and people are knocking on the door pointing at thier watch. I usually go to the door and tell them their watch is wrong, or I tell them that I guess their drinking beer tonight. That usually pisses them off. My theory is, on a Friday or Saturday night, if you're not already on your way to having a good buzz at 11pm, you're not trying hard enough.

LMMEO...I like that. Maybe start handing out cards to AA to those earlybirds. The watch ppl----try the no-speaky-the-language one. LOL Or just wave to them as you merrily go by the door.

I have a no brainer for you.

Rosewood has a bar and is a restaurant. Their policy is that the bar stays open until midnight. If there are customers then it might stay open until 2 am. Almost every night regular customers show up at 1 am asking if the bar is open. If it is closed can they have their beer in the restaurant.

They cannot understand after several years of patronage that the bar may be closed at midnight and that if they want it open at 1 am then they better be in there to keep the place open. They know that when the bar is close the booze stops flowing.

When will they stop come at 1 am or even 3 am looking for booze. Some obviously are bar crawling and this is the last stop.
